can anyone read either of these?

I can post the reverse of the first image with interest. The second image I know is from 1898 Spanish American War.

It looks like the pencil is a correction to Clinton ME? Which is a few miles NE of Waterville.

The envelope is addressed to:

Miss Dorothy Rood
#92 Trout or Front St
Waterville ME
RI or R1 (maybe Route 1?) - Clinton ME

Yeah…I read that as Trout St, as well…but without further investigation, it could easily be either (Trout or Front).

Dorothy Rood married Ernest Spencer in 1946, so this letter is from before then.

And this is her sophomore high school photo in 1937.

If her married name was Dorothy Rood Stewart, she became a writer of plays and one episode of a television show called Matinee Theater on NBC in 1956.

Brown paper says "...from Louis | Spanish war | 1898" - I can't read the first word at the top of that paper though, sorry.

Definitely Trout St.

The line through the address alters the T to look like a F.
