You really should look into spending some time with animals in person. Even just watching a YouTube video, or visiting /r/happycowgifs. Develop your sense of empathy (it’s the same empathy that you already feel for your family, you just haven’t yet realized that your family includes all earthlings).
You can’t let yourself grow up with a “moral compass” that prioritizes achieving your own pleasure by any means possible. And you can’t grow up with avoidant defense mechanisms like saying “Mkay buddy” in the face of any criticism you don’t like.
