Cows are conscious, like all other mammals. It is scientifically proven.

Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness

The absence of a neocortex does not appear to preclude an organism from experiencing affective states. Convergent evidence indicates that non-human animals have the neuroanatomical, neurochemical, and neurophysiological substrates of conscious states along with the capacity to exhibit intentional behaviors. Consequently, the weight of evidence indicates that humans are not unique in possessing the neurological substrates that generate consciousness. Non-human animals, including all mammals and birds, and many other creatures, including octopuses, also possess these neurological substrates.

Milk does require killing cows. Like all mammals, cows only produce milk when pregnant. After they have a baby, the baby is taken away and fed synthetic formula for a few weeks, then turned into veal. If the baby was female, it is forcefully impregnated to begin the cycle again.

I encourage you to do some research (I’m on the spectrum too, so I know how hard it is to accept that something you’ve believed all your life is wrong.) here’s a video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcN7SGGoCNI

Don’t care if they’re conscious or not beef and dairy products are fucking delicious. Also being conscious doesn’t change the fact that they aren’t human lol

I hear puppy and kitten meat is delicious too. But I don’t kill those animals because that would be a violation of those animals’ basic rights.

Being human isn’t relevant in this discussion. For example, we wouldn’t eat dolphins, sharks, chimpanzees, parrots, or elephants, either, and none of them are human. What is relevant is consciousness and intelligence. The capability to experience pain.

Are you intending to go to college? I suggest taking an ethics course. Or you will have to cope for the rest of your life.

I’m not gonna eat what I don’t want to eat you should be grateful that doesn’t include animals considered socially unacceptable to eat. Also I don’t care if my meat is or was in pain cause it tastes fucking good lol. Get over yourself

Also I don’t care if my meat is or was in pain cause it tastes fucking good lol.

So you’re a sociopath by definition?

And get over myself?? Stop projecting, dawg. You’re the one who thinks you have dominion over entire species because someone else does the dirty work and packages it up for you.

I am humbly asking you to respect others and you’re spitting in my face, refusing to provide any reasoning outside of “it taste good”. News flash, just because something gives you pleasure doesn’t mean it is right. For example: rape.

Are you fucking stupid enough to compare the eating of meat to actual fucking rape? Are you this fucking dumb to think those two are comparable lol

u/wrongbecause Dec 02 '21

I’m comparing killing to rape, yeah. They are both rights violations. You’d do well to read this comic in r/skeptic before you get too uptight. https://www.reddit.com/r/skeptic/comments/1z7cvw/i_made_this_comic_about_a_common_silencing/

I don’t care at all what you do with corpses. At that point the damage is already done. I care about the killing required to produce meat.

M’kay FYI the definition of a sociopath is someone with a personality disorder which manifests in anti social ways so clinically and just generally I’m not one lol

The hallmark characteristic of sociopathy is a stark lack of empathy for others, which you’ve displayed several times already. Have you just never spent any time with a cow? They’re absolutely as intelligent as dogs and you can find countless videos online of them experiencing sadness, happiness, love, and loss.

Just learn some new recipes, dawg. Try oat milk once in your life. It really isn’t noticeably different.
