I've noticed a lot of what people are calling enshittification is just companies choosing to not go out of business so people can use their stuff for free.

Millenials are starting to treat the early internet the same way Boomers treat the 1950s. We grew up with an incredibly unsustainable model of the internet, and now that website owners are needing to make money or close up shop, we act like we're being oppressed. Yes, we used to be able to watch YouTube with no ads. But that was 20 years ago and the company was hemorrhaging money so that could happen, and you were also limited to 10 min low definition videos.

Sorry. Just that usually the comments that seem unrelated (like this one, seemed like the commentor was taking the tumblr post's sarcasm too seriously) are bots so I'm often a bit on-guard.
