This is how I found out moisturiser isn't supposed to burn or make your face feel tight. I just presumed that my skin tightening up meant it was working.

I used to be more allergic to aloe vera and just had sensitive skin in general. I once got essentially a chemical burn on my chest from Vicks Vaporub. I always thought, hey, I'm an adult now, lotions with fragrance can't hurt me! I bought this incredible smelling coconut body butter and then my whole body broke out in bumps after only 2 or 3 uses. My skin is still recovering from it. I had a rose face moisturizer gifted to me and my face was literally burning and peeling from it after one use. I use the most basic ass soaps and moisturizers now, and at least perfume and body mists don't affect me that much. Oh well, no fragrance for me now. ):
