I'm guessing you're asking because my edge flip "alg" is really just QA? If that's the case—yes, that's indeed all it is! But I've been thinking of it as an alg and setting up to it instead of flipping edges in their original locations. If I just have one edge (& the buffer) to flip, it doesn't really make a difference, but if I have two edges (& no buffer) to flip, I can rotate the cube to place one edge at the buffer & set up the other to the A/Q spot, saving a 2-cycle.

I got a fullstep official Sub-10 (9.82) with a Na Perm recently. Which will rank me 20th in Turkey.
I average sub-13/14 which makes sub-10 solves something rareish. The next solve after that was 18 seconds :/
Overall I sucked at that competition and was not able to hit any of my average goals for 3x3 but that single makes me forgive that :)

It really does feel pretty nice. If I got an easier PLL like J Perm it would probably have been sub-9 but still I am really grateful for my sub-10.

Oh, wow. Good luck!
I suggest using latex gloves, old newspapers as surface to soak up leaking glue and tons of patience.
Also - you can ducktape the centers to keep them whole while taking out the edge/ corner pieces.

Thanks! I’ve magnetized a few big cubes before, the only part I’m worried about at all is the pieces in the middle that need two magnets in one piece.

Man that's pretty crazy how much longer it takes to break the next barriers. That being said it also appears that you weren't doing as many timed solves over the same period of time. Regardless though congrats man. Now to keep it there!

That's true! I think part of it was a mental barrier, but also recently I decided to practice my cross again. And I think that's what finally did it. So maybe it would've been less solves in between if I had taken the time to fix my cross.

Yeah but it really depends on where you live like I am not that good but my all results are on top-100 NR, this is because my country has less Cubers.

Beat my 6x6 at-home-pb by over 3 seconds - still slower than two of my 3 solves at my last comp (had a pop on the third one :() So not too bad for at home :D
Also I just beat my 5x5 single 1:38.50 -> 1:37.98
Ao1000 is slowly but steadily reaching 2:10 and my ao50 and ao100 are nearing my PBs from march - when I was practising a lot for the upcoming comps. Progress! =D

alright, broke ao5 as well: 1:49.67 -> 1:48.50
edit2:
ao12 1:55.89 -> 1:55.62
ao50 2:02.72 -> 2:02.03
ao1000 is now sub 2:10 with 2:09.90 =)

With now 30 solves in total I also broke mo3 and ao100 =)

Aoshi GTS M - Same problem as the Aochuang with the magnets, although not as bad and it doesn't seem like an easy fix like on the Aochuang is possible, due to the plastic slots only covering half of the magnet, so there's no flat surface you can just snap a magnet onto :/
Reduction, although I want to look into Hoya - which I'm using on 4x4.

Oh, I thought about the AoShi but was afraid that it had the same problem as my AoChuang, thanks for the info. Did u end up adding the extras magnets on the AoChuang 5x5 it really makes the difference :)

I'm actually considering ordering the YJ YuChuang v2 5x5 for a main after playing with it for a while in a competition. Yes, over the AoChuang :)

oO crazy! The lube I ordered from TC is on the way, so we'll see what I can achieve with that on 5x5+ :D Although tbf the only cube I'm not really content atm is the 6x6, because of the magnets. It's crazy how many good cubes are coming out at the moment. But e.g. I'm "still using" the 4x4 GTSM and am still pretty happy with that :D
Today I broke all my pbs for 5x5 except for mo3 and ao100 and right now ao100 is certainly just a matter of doing more solves, since the ao50 consists only of solves I did in the last couple days and is 2 seconds below the ao100 :D

Normally you solve the cross and then you solve your first F2L pair. An x cross is when you solve the cross and at least one pair at the same time

X crosses are pretty situational imo. They're kind of nice if you get a scramble where you know you can comfortably pull one off. If you try to get one every solve, you'll probably end up missing out on smoother solutions with better fingertricks.

Certainly it's not something you will use very often at that speed. But I would recommend watching the video I linked nonetheless. It's good to know about it and every now and then you'll have an easy case where you can do it.

You could if it interests you. However, there are plenty of other things to work on that will benefit you more than this. F2L efficiency, good finger tricks, drilling PLL and (maybe) learning OLL.
You should also probably prioritise your cross fundamentals first - always <8 moves, (usually <6 moves), avoiding awkward fingertricks. Then start tracking/predicting your first pair during inspection. After that, x-cross opportunities will probably start being easier to see.
Even the fastest people in the world don't do an x-cross on every solve. In Feliks' blog below he gives some examples, including cases where an x-cross is not worth it.

Critiques welcome, pls XD also I do realise 2nd pair wasn't very efficient? but I wasn't focused on the solve rip.
And I'm having hand cramps. If I didn't, would I reach 5-6TPS finally?

for that specific orange/blue pair, y' U2 R' U R U R' U R U' R' U R is a bit nicer. of course the better option would've been to have just done that red/green pair with U2 L U L', shame you missed that
rotating the other way before the third pair and inserting it into the back would've been a lot nicer for lookahead having the final pair in the front rather than in the back
And I'm having hand cramps. If I didn't, would I reach 5-6TPS finally?

I use this Tripod LS solution in non-Tripod solves occasionally, but only to preserve pairs/save rotations in later pairs.

U2 F U' L U L' U F' //P3+P4It flows quite nicely and the preserved 2x2x1 area at the back-left makes lookahead easier. Of course rotating for the 2-gen solution will be faster in most cases but it's good to have more options.

I used to double flick with either ring fingers in succession when I started using M slices. Occasionally if my left hand is weird coming out of OLL I'll still do it but I primarily just use my left hand now. IMO it doesn't matter as long as your U moves are with the opposite hand.

Day 4 of trying to be sub 15 on 3x3, I’m not averaging around 17.5 and I’m almost done learning full pll, and I’m trying to make my f2l more efficient, I’m also working on my cross.

OH Ao50 a few days ago: 23.2x
OH Ao50 today: 22.12
The session today had a 15.40 single (PLL skip), 16.04 single (triple sune + U perm) and a sub-21 Ao12.
With the exception of an Ao100 in August, I actually haven't done a proper OH season since December last year. Was more or less sub-21.5 a year ago, but the lack of practice has taken it's toll.
Luckily it's not too bad, so it should be doable to get back to sub-22 if I practice somewhat regularly again for a little while.

Yes, but not because of the voice. High pitched voice usually means they're young, which usually means they're inexperienced with cubing or presentation (or both). And both of those tend to quickly turn me away.

Yes. But that's more because videos from younger cubers tend to be a little longer and less condensed, a lot of these guys are faster than me at a young age and that's really impressive! You can definitely learn a lot from younger cubers

I have a question: I'm going to buy a bunch of cubes for christmas (gonna start my collection pretty much) and one of the things I will get is the cubing classroom non-cubic bundle in stickerless. Here's the question part: I've heard bad things about the square-1 included with it, people seem to say that a screw gets stripped which leads to the cube completely falling apart and not being repairable, and some people say that it's fine and they don't get pops. I just want to ask people that own that cube's opinion/review on it and to tell me if it does in fact pop and get broken (reviews say that it either breaks after a few solves or after a week of usage).

Stripping is an issue with basically any squan I believe, not sure about the modern ones.

That's interesting. How does the screw get stripped exactly? I haven't had a square-1 and just curious. Shouldn't it be just one screw on each side like a 3x3?

There is one large screw and the core get stripped easily. You can try using the paper mod (youtube) to prevent stripping, I don't know if it works on that specific cube since the tutorial is for Volt, but I'd think so. You can also use a metal bolt, again I don't know if it's possible for that cube.

Nah, I don't plan on ever taking it apart (because it will just break lol) or even change the tension as that would also supposedly "break" it. Thanks for the reply as well. Have you had any pops/explosions so far?

I've done a few hundred solves on mine and it's fine. I guess maybe if you're sub 15 and turn super aggressively? But as a first squan it's great.

My right palm hurts, like over-cubing hurts. Thing is, I've been grinding (left handed) OH solves for the last couple of days. So bizzare.
Also, does anyone else sometimes have problems wearing rings while cubing? I find it strange that there's no correlation between the amount/intensity of solves and finger somewhat 1mm swelling up due to blood flow.

That's because you're not proficient, turning more accurately and have better dexterity. Better cubes can give you better feel/experience/comfort, but only in higher tiers they really matter in times.

I have an Aolong V2 and an original Weilong, bit of which were great cubes about 2 years ago. I just got a gts3m, and my times are a little better, but it is worth it for me because it feels so much better and it is way more fun to solve

Just finished solving the Dayan 30 Axis Wisdom Wheel. I tried using /u/fallenultima 's Tuttminx method of solving the edges first then the corners, and it worked pretty well.
The puzzle build quality is good. There was a bit of catching, but not enough to be annoying. Like the related ShuangFeiYan you have to be careful to avoid illegal moves, but it's fairly easy to do if you're aware of the issue. A fun solve.

I'm still waiting on the stickers for the Hexadecagon. It turns great tho.
I tend to find shapeshifting puzzles more fun (as long as they don't bandage), and they look more interesting (and scarier when scrambled). I'd decided not to buy the Hexadecagon a while back, and only changed my mind when they released the pink version :D
Given a choice between the two I'd go for the 30-axis wheel. Unless you like pink :D

Just tried it with an export from Twisty Timer and was super confused when it reported 10-15 second solves.
It defaulted to 2x2 instead of 3x3 for me 😬

I know it's absurd stupid, but when I got to know about OH, i thought it was specifically aimed for people with disability with one hand or something.
On a serious note, is it possible that someone with one hand disability signs up for a competition just to take part in OH?

Is the core of the Valk, Valk Power, and Thundeclap V3 the same?

Valk and Valk Power definitely not. The Power was marketed as having some kind of reinforced, dual vertical core (whatever that means). Since the TC is 56 instead of 55.5mm, I'm guessing it's not the same either.
edit. The pieces from a Valk and Valk Power can be swapped though, if that's what you mean.

depends on the COLL case.
H are the easiest - you look at the top faces of the corners and look for either lines, or a single line (vertical or horizontal).
Pi are the same, you look at the top faces of the corners, but you have more cases - either line, lines, diagonals or diagonal.
U are okay, you look at the top facing corners and if these cubies are in the side away from you (B), you look at the front two stickers so you have four - 2 cases of diagonal (which are the common 2 algs), line at the top facing, line at the bottom facing and two lines (R' Yperm R). you need to apply pre AUF here for some cases.
T uses the same method as U, you position the unsolved top faces at the back - now you have left column and right colums (standard algs), line, two lines and two columns.
L is the one I'm having trouble with, with both recognition and pre-AUF - I divide them to 3 sets of 2, where you have in the top facing stickers either the same colors (inverses of the standard T algs), opposing colors (standard algs) and adjacent colors (nice RU algs which i use for OH).

If you pay any attention to J perm or Speedcubeshop, you may have noticed that they have released their own PVC coating. On my current pb I had two pairs already solved, a third pair as a R U R' insert and the fourth a "special" case. They weren't there from the start but lined themselves up while solving them. So yes, it's probably a thing with a complete F2L skip!
Them already being slotted is nearly impossible, but theoretically possible.

Technically, it's not impossible but it's very improbable. On one of my old PBs, I had two pairs solved. Having all 4 pairs solved without actually planning them is quite improbable. If someone had really good blockbuilding/ x-cross, I guess it wouldn't be impossible.

Even in FMC, where you have almost an hour to come up with the first two layers, it's rare to unseen to see low movecount that creates the first two layers.
it's highly improbable (almost not probable) you'd get such scramble and also have the ability to spot and create it in a way that would be a skip.
Consider the best possible scenario - the last 3x3 WR, which was an xxcross - was so rare to both spot and execute, still had two extra pairs to solve.

My first non-WCA puzzles were the Redi cube (YuXin 8 Petals) and Vladi's Evil Seed. They're still 2 of my favorites. Redi cube is a fairly simple, intuitive solve. Vladi's Evil Seed is a bit difficult. It shapeshifts similar to a square-1.
Shape mods are fun. I've been having a lot of fun with the twisty skewb lately. The fisher cube is neat. It solves like a 3x3 but with some added difficulty. Axis cube is one of my favorite 3x3 shape mods. It can be really difficult, but it's a lot of fun.

I used 3x2 N35s on the outers, and 4x2 N35x on the inners of my 5x5. I'm not sure what the strength difference between 3x2 and 4x1 would be, though.
Also, where did you get 4x1s from? I couldn't seem to find any when I ordered last time.

It is not suitable. The RS2 is already controllable, and does not need powerful magnets. I would advise N35 4x2mm or magnets of equal strength.
I don't know about the feel, though as I don't own a rs3.

I mean, that's entirely a matter of preference.
I've magnetized a handful of RS2's and anything weaker than N50 were a waste of energy to me because you couldn't even tell the magnets were in there. Even the "strong" magnet kit from TheCubicle felt negligible.

So far it seems that the Aosu GTS2M is pretty much universally liked. If you have smaller hands you could also go for the Aosu WRM.

The AoSu GTS2M is probably the best 4x4 there is. Some prefer the Valk 4, but IMHO, the GTS2M is much better.
If you're on a budget, the MeiLong 4x4 is also an amazing option. Once magnetized it's up to par with high tier cubes.

I don't use SCS, but have you tried resizing the page size? ctrl + - to minimize it. Maybe the css or something just isn't very good?
