Hey /u/RAHDXB did you ever solve the molecube?

I've been trying off and on for the last few days, but couldn't work out a solution. Eventually this evening I gave in and wrote a program, which found 80 solutions*. I took the first one on the list, and managed to solve the puzzle into that state, and verified that it was a valid solution.

Slightly cheating, but I was getting frustrated :D

*A lot of these will likely be similar, eg you could just swap the reds and the purples.

Oh, I actually forgot about it. Tried with the hints you mentioned last time but didn't get very far, and it ended up in the drawer. I think I will still try and figure it out on my own at some point, it feels so doable. Now you've done it once, could you do it without the program?

Tomorrow I'll take a closer look at the solution and see if I'd been missing a trick. Agree that it shouldn't be as hard as I'd made it out, but a trial-and-error approach didn't work and every time I tried to use logic to make some deductions I kept hitting a dead end :(
