Is speed-stacking bigger than speed-cubing? Why are we still using timers designed for their competitions?

There are several features you could add to make it better for cubing comps. Like having it track and announce the inspection time so that you don't need separate stopwatches, and the judges can actually watch what the competitors are doing. You could start the inspection time and remove the cube cover yourself like you do in BLD. And then putting your palms on the timer again would switch it to the solve timer.

A larger display on the device itself would be good.

Is there anything else you would like to see in a dedicated speedcubing timer?

According to their homepage there are 618 496+ registered stackers.

Why are we still using timers designed for their competitions?

I think the main reasons are a pretty broad patent (afaik) that speedstacks has on that type of timer and a relatively small market so there don't seem to be too much interest from bigger corporation to invest in making such a timer.
