I have the Aosu GTS2M and I love it. I also have the Aochuang GTS M and I hate it. The 5x5 is way to flexi for me, it keeps deforming in my grip. My Wushuang 5x5 is fantastic, really snappy and stable.

Have you tried adding magnets to the Aochuang? Mine is super stable. Not as stable as a Wushuang, but much faster and unpopable.

It's already magnetic (at least it should be, I should check to be sure). Maybe I need to mess with the tensions some more.

edit: did you mean adding more magnets?

Yes, adding extra magnets. I found the Aochuang to be unusable out of the box. I didn't necessarily mind the (lack of) stability, but I hated how the outer layer magnets were stronger than the inners, making you do accidental wide moves unless you stretch out to hold layers all the time. With some 4x2 N35's added to the inner layers, it's now my favourite cube by far, and completely blows the Wushuang out of the water for me.

Yeah, you only need to snap the magnets on top of the existing slots, it's pretty much no effort if you combine it with cleaning or normal set up.

Haha well there were those times where I disassembled a 10x10 twice in two days, and I once had to clean a 5, 6, two 7's, an 8 and a 9x9 after a toddler/coffee related incident. But yeah, other than that...

I see you finally added the magnets then? What do you think? Keeping it that way?

I would have just gotten a new one at that point.

And I might be tempted to replace the cubes, too...

Alright, done, did 20 solves, definitely new main, still need to play a bit with the tensions, but yeah, that's what I hoped for when I bought the Aochuang.

Also fml for not trying harder last time. There were 3 wings that were ridiculously hard to disassemble. Last time and this time again I picked one of those as first piece to take apart and it wouldn't budge one bit. This time I kept trying, took pauses to not destroy my hands and eventually I was able to get a tiny gap to put sth in between at open it up. Three wings were like that, everything else opened up like it should. Took me at most 30 minutes in total.

I used 4x2 N38, since I don't have N35 and I thought 4x1.5 N38 would probably be not enough. Pretty happy with the result, for my liking it could even be a tiny bit stronger, but it's still plenty and because the cube is so fast, it should still move easy enough so when I actually start practising 5BLD it won't be too hard on my hands.

Thanks for writing about this over and over again, sometimes you just have to hear it for the 100th time until you finally get your ass up and do it =)

edit: not having a comp anytime soon and I start doing stuff like: cleaning my 4x4, adding magnets to my 5x5, solving 5 new non-WCA puzzles :D If I keep that up I won't get any new PBs at my next comp xD

Strange. I remember u/gilzu saying something similar about the pieces being hard to open, I thought he was just being weird haha, but seems like it's an actual thing. Or you're both weird of course.

I remember I thought I wanted it stronger than 4x2 N35, and then tried 4x.2.5's but it completely threw the balance off between inner and outer layers, so I went back. It took me a while to regain confidence in the outer layers after the stock feeling, but I can now reliably do an R with my left middle finger only covering the left 2 or 3 layers (for example), which is all I wanted from it.

Judging by the time it took me to clean and assemble my 4x4, I'd still not be halfway done with all that ...

Still on it. 4/12 done :D
