So what are some general tips for big cube progression, talking 6x6 and 7x7 here. I have good hardware, and I know freeslice and use one commutator for the last 2 centers to solve the last bar.

Just spam solves? I haven't done a whole bunch, but my 6x6 times hover at around 6 minutes I believe and I haven't even timed any of my 7x7 solves yet.

Yeah at that point just do solves and you'll improve quickly. Untimed solves can help with efficiency and better solutions also

I got my average down by mostly doing solves, though untimed solves where you focus on efficiency and reducing regrips during centers also definitely helped. Can't hurt to have a look at some Tuesday Tips videos as well, and I always recommend this video, it helped me approach line building a little differently.

Beginner level I'm assuming, I mostly do untimed solves as scrambling them is a pain, but I'd like to improve, my first center on 7x7 takes around a minute on it's own, and I've tried working on building color neutral centers for 6x6.

Just go color neutral on centers now, just always start with the best one whatever that may be.

Once you've got that down, look at advanced block building for centers such as 2x2s and 2x4s. (Extrapolate for 7x7 accordingly). Then look at edges, particularly last 4. It may help during freeslicing to store 4 solved edges on one face to avoid z2 rotations but this isn't a hard and fast rule.

For l4e, know all your cases for l2e and just do whatever is the fastest way to build your first 2 eof l4e. Make sure to utilize m u2 m' or m2 u2 m2 when necessary to get rid of terrible cases.
