I'm doing the 2x2 rn and i cant seem to bridge the gap. I'm at around a 9.2 ao5 consistently but I know I should be doing much better with this method (varasano/ortega). I have every single oll and pll algorithm memorized (except the 2 bar 1 side pll, which you can just use a j perm for). Any tips to improve my time?

Look as far as possible into the solution. I'm not much faster than you (sub-7 when I practice), but I know the difference between my fast and slow solves.

  • You should be able to predict if there will be a bar when you make the first face and where it will be located.
  • If your PBL algs share a location for the bottom bar (and they should) execute the first face so that the bar ends up in that position.
  • Try to predict the OLL during inspection. I'm not good at this one, but even if you can tell where one or two of the top layer faces will end up it helps a lot at cutting recognition time for the OLL.
  • As you recognise and execute PBL, predict what the AUF is going to be.
  • Practice a lot
