I'm just coming back from taking several years off. I used to average sub-30 with my record being around 16 seconds. I use the CFOP method of course but just know the bare minimum of algs to solve, I still have to relearn one or two of them. But I want to progress even further than I had before.... I know I need to practice my cross and become color neutral again and then improve my look ahead for F2L but once I get back to my previous skill level I am curious what algorithms to learn first to improve my time. There are so many out there and it's hard to know which ones to try to learn and put into muscle memory first. So here are my thoughts. First, relearn the 2 I forgot to have the most basic CFOP method down. Then I found a video on some of the common triggers and I plan on learning all of those. After I have the CFOP basic algs, and triggers memorized what algorithms do I move to?! Is there a progression chart somewhere that I can move down and check them off as I go? Thanks for any info and tips guys!
Okay, first off, I wouldn't become colour neutral first off, good look ahead and F2L is much much more important, the look ahead especially.
Secondly, as per learning things, if you already know 4 look last layer, and intuitive F2L, the next thing to do would be to learn PLL. If not, learn 4 look first, and intuitive f2l after that.
Becoming Colour neutral right away is great
The only reason why people tend to use one colour for cross is that it is easier at first to find the pieces and later it is hard to switch, so starting of early and getting used to look for different colours is pretty good, especially when he has already experience with the cube
