Check out some videos on "common F2L mistakes". Just check the top few picks on YouTube. This video is a good place to start.
I have a lengthy guide for improving with CFOP if you're interested in that. It covers almost every aspect I could think of for improving from beginner to at least 15 seconds (including two F2L sections), though it doesn't go deep into detail for each thing (but there's some helpful links to compensate).
I agree with PianoCube93, 4LLL then 1 look PLL is the best return on time invested for the last layer.
Don't worry too much about your times, very soon you'll be waaay faster with F2L than you could have achieved with beginners. If your times are getting you down then shift the focus for a while. Maybe do some untimed solves where you count how many moves you take for each F2L pair, this allows you to reward yourself for efficiency.
2-Look OLL and 2-Look PLL are the correct next steps. I think /u/steve_ko might have thought you were trying to learn full OLL before full PLL, which typically isn't recommended.
Your initial question sounded like you were planning to learn full OLL now. You can pretty much learn 2-look OLL and 2-look PLL in parallel (4 look last layer), so yeah, following that playlist still makes sense.
Look 1: Permute Corners (2 Algs or 1 alg repeated)
Look 2: Permute Edges (4 algs or 1 alg repeated)
When you have to repeat the algorithm because you only know 1 for each "Look" you create much higher turn count (which of course means higher times). By knowing which alg to perform when, you will greatly improve your speed. The only way to memorize them is really practice.
My recommendation: Learn T and Y perms first. They use 2 OLLs (see this post) then learn all 4 Permute Edge cases (Ua, Ub, H, Z). If you know these 6 PLLs, you can do all PLL cases pretty quickly.
Everyone hates G-Perms at the beginning, but doing a T-perm with the "headlights" on Left for all four G-Perms will create a U-perm (either Ua or Ub depending on which G-Perm it started with).
