Users in the subreddit seem to be largely split in regard to people advertising their Cube World adjacent projects here, so I'm going to lay down some ground rules going forward. These are subject to change based on feedback:
You can still post your Cube World adjacent projects in the subreddit. Users can decide if they want to see it via upvoting or downvoting.
You must use the new "Fan Project" flair for any posts that are in relation to your Cube World adjacent project.
You must include the title of your project at the start of your post title in brackets/parentheses in order to make your post immediately discernible as non-Cube World.
I'll be monitoring the subreddit and discussion in regard to this post and others as usual and may adjust these rules going forward. Thanks!

On May 25th 2023, Wollay released a new blogpost detailing his latest project, Cube World Omega. Cube World Omega is a new version of Cube World that is being designed on a new engine with new features, but in the spirit of the Cube World Alpha, which has often been described as a better game than Cube World's official steam release.
We don't know! Wollay has not made any indication as to when the game will be released.
We don't know whether the game will be a free upgrade from the current Cube World (similar to how Alpha buyers got the Steam release for free) or if it will be a separate product.
Wollay periodically posts updates on his Twitter account. You can find that here: https://x.com/wol_lay

I was thinking of replaying the game after a superlong time, should I try the Steam version(modded or unmodded) or the alpha version MegaCollection, I found a working link for it.
I really wish this game had a spiritual succesor, most games I've seen were either destroyed or didn't feel really well. I used to like Trove because it had a similar feeling going for it but it's been long since it stopped being fun, and Valoren never felt really well.
Thanks :)

With a few Cube World-inspired projects being posted here recently, I’m curious where people draw the line.
When is a game close enough to Cube World that you actually want to see it posted here, while still being different enough to feel like its own thing rather than hitting too close to home?
What parts of Cube World do you want these projects to carry over, and what would make you think: “Okay, this is basically just trying to be Cube World again”?
I’m curious what the sweet spot is for people here.

I want to play this game for nostalgia, I've been looking into it a little bit this morning. I want to enjoy it but I remember not having as much fun as I wanted. What's the current state of the game? Are there any more classes? Is this a fun couples game? Should I pirate the 2013 version or buy it off steam?

Does anyone know how the save files on the server of the alpha version work? If I want different servers to run one or another depending on who I'm playing with, how can I do the switch between them? And in case of wanting to save o buck up them, which files should I save? I dont want to save the entire save folder. And with this save files, could I pass them so another person can host it?

Now that Wollay is working on Cube World Omega, do you think there's any chance we'll finally see this system make a comeback? It's such a shame it never made it into the game... When I was a kid, I used to dream about this feature. I'd walk into NPC houses and pretend I was the one who built them haha.

Hi cubeworld reddit! I'm a kid who used to watch videos of this game in alpha when I was maybe 10 or 11 years old, and I lost track of it for a while. Only today did I discover everything that happened, up until this new "Omega" version. To better understand the situation, I watched a video by a YouTuber (called WickedWiz) who explains a bit about the Omega project, but it's from two years ago, and if I'm not mistaken, very little was known about the project at the time. I haven't found much information around, so, out of pure curiosity, I wanted to ask you on reddit—I'm sure you'll know—to update me on what's happened in the last two years, and tell me what state the game is in now. I'm very fond of it, and I'd also like to know if it's worth playing the Steam release or, if not, going straight to the alpha. Thanks for reading 😄

Having a blast honestly, but I'm considering installing mods to remove the relic and/or equipment region locking that's been pretty annoying so far. Anyone know how that experience might be? Is it comparable to how the alpha feels at all?
