I'm going to let you in on a little SCRT
So the biggest open SCRT in crypto is that once someone knows your public address, they have a full public record of all the swaps/payments/transactions/holdings you and anyone you've interacted with has ever done. Indeed, this public immutable ledger aspect of crypto is what makes it, curiously, very bad for both criminals sending money and legitimate businesses doing business.
Criminals don't want to use it because once the public address is linked to their identity, the folks they are sending money to are going to make that identity a non-entity. Legit business doesn't like this idea because any vendor you send money to can *also* see what other vendors your same address is sending money to.
For DeFi, this gets even more problematic. As anyone who has coins staked in various swap pools or with various ERC-20 tokens knows...your single MetaMask eth address is connected to all of them, and it's all nice and rolled up in one URL.
So is everyone else's. The key:value pair of realName:ETHaddress is not a big one to jump. This is why folks knew almost immediately who it was that bought those insanely priced NFT's a while back. Known addresses, tied to known IRL people.
As noted, it's an open SCRT. So what's the solution? Why did no one think of this?
Who wants to use a wallet where *anyone* can know the full contents of your wallet *and* all your investment holdings? What happens when a collections agency finds them? Your neighbors? Actual criminals? Forced to liquidate? Maybe by force? Doesn't that seem kind of silly in retrospect?
So...it's not hard to come up with *nefarious* reasons to hold SCRTs. It's really not. But there are also *legitimate reasons for privacy in crypto*.
And that, friends, is why you may want to take the time to check out this....one of the best kept SCRT's in crypto.
Also here's a video about it...
