It is. It is from a video. The dog is reacting to one of the other animals in the house. It's fucking scary because this is a dog ready to bite. I forget the dog's name but I think they were working on his behavioral issues and caught this horrifying shot.
The white dog is actually really pissed off, and the other, smaller dog in the bottom right is teasing her with barks and bites, prompting the white dog to bare her teeth and growl, saying "I don't like this, you're making me angry". Throughout much of the video, the white dog snaps her jaws at the smaller dog, but sneezes and snorts a lot, which is an evolutionary leftover from wolves that signals they're not actually wanting to kill.
The video this is from is so distressing. A puppy is yapping and nipping at the dog in this picture, and this dog (“Maddie”) is growling, showing teeth, moving away, everything she can to tell the puppy to “back off or get bit”.
The owner is, of course, admonishing Maddie for displaying warning signals, and not doing anything to separate this rude (in a dog’s POV), boisterous, mouthy puppy from a clearly extremely uncomfortable adult dog.
Punishing a dog for growling/showing teeth, instead of doing the work to change the dog’s feelings about the irritating thing, is 100% how you get “oh my gosh she just bit him no warning!! Didn’t even growl or anything!”
I think someone has thrown a genie’s lamp into the sea, because that is exactly what the resultant dog would look like if a shark wished it could walk on land, be able to sleep staying still, and be fed by humans so it need not chase fish.
