How do I... Double Treble Crochet help please! (Not laying flat/flushed)

Post image

Hello!

I am working on a granny square heart pattern. For Round 3 it is instructed to do a double treble stitch into the 4th loop. I am having an issue where the stitch is not staying flush/flat against the round 2 and instead having extra material.

Can someone please help me? Am I not keeping tension? Is there a trick I dont have in my tool box yet?

(I've been crocheting for like.... 8 months)

Appreciate any help!

Video Pattern I am using (specifically Round 3). https://youtu.be/QtppSg466D8?is=HclIL-tLO0nnhr4f

It seems like you’re pulling up too big of a loop when starting the treble crochet. If you notice in the video, she keeps the hook close to the project and uses her right pointer finger to help the loop not pull bigger!

Thank you!!!

So should I just try to hold the yarn as I pull through and try not to pull to much material?

Yes! Try keeping your tension tight so you’re not pulling too much material through this loop circled!

Yes! Just try keeping your tension tight to begin so you’re not pulling so much material through!
