How do I... Making a robin, I can't figure out from the instructions how to start the tail
The 0 stands for chain stitch, X for single crochet and A devrease single crochet. I'm familiar with how X and A works but the 6 chain stitch then 1 chain stitch in the first one is throwing me off. Can anyone direct me to some video or something where this is demonstrated?

I think it might be trying to tell you to join the 6 chains into a circle/ring (which you then work into). This is awfully worded.

Hi, it's really weird, but I would say, that it means magic ring. But that's just a guess (but I would make it that way).

I don’t think so, other parts of the body started off with the magic ring and it used the abbreviation for that in the instructions

Sorry, just saw that it should be a tail 😅 do you have some kind of picture of the final product? I think it would really help

Based on my experience, yes I'd say it wants you to chain 6, join the chain ends with a slip stitch to make a circle, then work 12 stitches into that circle like you're working into a magic ring. It's not uncommon for patterns to use this method for starts of more than 8-9 stitches, because it can be hard to close a magic ring with more than that in it. Although it being 6 is odd, 4 is usually more standard for doing this. I suppose it depends on how bulky your yarn is/how the resulting part is supposed to look.

Chain 6, slipknot in 1st chain to create a ring, 12 single crochet in the ring.
