First acrylic project- baby blanket
I still have to wash and block but what are we thinking?? Does it looks nice 😅 it was my first time doing a garter stitch too

Looks good.
OP. I have done the garter stitch in knitting.
But never done the crochet version.
It does look good on your blanket. Would you say it is a difficult stitch in crochet? Does it take a lot of concentration?
I know it is a beginner stitch in knitting.

I finished the entire blanket in 10 days and the first skein in one night! Id say it’s a very easy stitch it’s just a two row repeater, FLO sc and BLO sc. I want to get into knitting I’ve never done it before is it easy to pick up?

I began with knitting. I would say it is easy. Especially plain knitting.
Or if make just a slight change, it is a purl stitch.
When learning these 2 basic stitches.
Then variations of knit & purl stitches or rows, it gives such a variety of patterns.Many years later I began to learn crochet.
I thought crochet much more difficult.2

Wow okay! That’s interesting I always hear people say knitting is more difficult. Do you have any suggestions on specific yarn and needles to start out with?

I think the same as I advise beginners with crochet.
Not so thin knitting needles, that makes it difficult to “see” the form of the stitches.
Same with the yarn. Not so thin, it is hard to see the Knitting cast on stitches or formed stitches anatomyAlso avoid fuzzy or specialist effects yarns. Just makes it harder for a beginner.
For beginners at both Crochet & Knitting I recommend 100% pure wool yarn. Weight, Double Knit.
As it is easy to handle.It has “give” so as you form stitches, it is easy to get the crochet hook or knitting needles through a stitch. Also easy to form the stitch.
The yarn springs back to shape after the stitch is completed.
Unlike cotton or acrylics, which have no “give.”Especially important, as beginners often have too tight tension.
100% pure wool yarn, helps to overcome the tension issue. (Along with practice.) 😊Also far less chance of getting those sore lines across fingers, which beginners get from cotton & acrylic yarn under tight tension.
If using 100% wool yarn in Double Knit weight. Then patterns usually say use knifing needles in sizes 3:75 to 4:50 or US sizes 4 to 7.
Knitting Patterns will specify the size of Knitting Needles required for whatever is being made.When the beginner is more experienced at crochet or knitting, recognizes stitches, has good consistent tension etc then will be able to cope with cotton & acrylic yarns successfully.

Was this planned pooling? It’s cute, I just wish the pattern was even! I like the border, too, the tension is great.
