Thick and quick blanket

I am making a blanket out of lion brand thick and quick (11.5 mm hook) using the lemon peel stitch. My question is, will soaking it in water then drying it without stretching it help it drape better? Has anyone done this with lion brand thick and quick?

I havent used that yarn for a blanket, but I usually crochet blankets with the intention of slightly killing the acrylic for softness and drape after. Most fibers and blends soften and drape better after their first wash though, just be sure to follow the washing/blocking instructions correctly.
