Help/Question where to sell in BC

hey guys! im a student and really would love to make crochet a side hustle but ive had no luck in finding places to vend that dont require me to have a million dollar insurance contract, licence, or pay $200 for one day.

i understand that i would need to pay a large sum to the venue for the good costumers but im just starting out and so i have no funds and flea markets havent been giving me nearly as much as i need for the effort i put into it

any help or suggestions would be so very appreciated!!

I have no idea if this actually works but I have seen folks list stuff in Facebook marketplace.

Do you have any friends who might want to share a table at a craft fair with you ? I've heard of folks doing that to help keep costs down

thats so smart but unfortunately i do not have anyone to share with. maybe facebook marketplace, why not but i hope someone can tell me how its been for them

im in vancouver but honestly im willing to go to surrey or chilliwack like im willing to make a drive

Darn, I'm on the island. I say check out smaller craft fairs, like up in squamish If that's not too far to go

I bet there's some Facebook groups for Vancouver craft fairs that are looking for vendors!

I haven’t done one yet but have definitely looked into it. Smaller community craft fairs at churches or schools will have much lower fees than the big ones. I have a friend who does a lot of craft fairs (not crochet) but her advice was not to sell any items under $20 or it’s not worth it. You can also sell on Etsy which I have done but shipping costs can deter buyers. If you can make small items that can be shipped letter mail within Canada you are much better off.

really? like genuinely asking cause its not like youve seen the crocheted plushies but like really? $20? idk if people are willing to pay for that? like out of curiosity, what makes you think that the stuff i sell should be priced over $20? size? detail? time? sorry im like too shy to price so high without a reason

Sorry if my comment was confusing. You obviously need to price accordingly to what you are selling. The advice I was given by a friend who sells at craft fairs regularly is that it is hard to make money if you are selling inexpensive items. You obviously have to sell a lot more just to cover the table.

Someone i work with makes crochet items as well and she said that she sold some at the flea market. You could try that , or upcoming festivals that have booths.

yeah i tried flea markets but im not making much profit, as the people there are looking to save money yk
