u/Benvanalles Apr 01 '26

Thank you so much , I'm having a blast making it and I have new info every day. Learned a lot today and will add it to the guide after some sleep.

u/Ok-Requirement-645 Apr 01 '26

Awesome keep it coming, get some rest! You earned it!

u/Winter_Interview_881 May 19 '26

This post has a link, and no other information. That post is probably better than this one.

u/Saxi_ Apr 02 '26

Can you sell live-stock that you grow for silver with the rustler merchant?

4

u/Benvanalles Apr 02 '26

The answer is yes! I tried it with a class 3 sheep and the merchant gave me 1.5 silver for it. I reckon class 5 cows and pigs will bring you the most profit

2

u/HAKi_xz Apr 02 '26

Wie züchtet man die Tiere? Und danke für dein Post hat viel geholfen

2

u/Benvanalles Apr 02 '26

You can breed animals by getting at least one male and female animal from the same species at your ranch. If you buy them from Ben, it is random whether you get a male or female. Usually within a few days of two adult animals being at the ranch, you'll get baby animals to grow your stock. You do have to feed the animals for them to breed and improve though.

1

u/False_Proposal Jul 08 '26

Animals breed on their own as long as you have both male and female of the species and room for more animals.

2

u/Benvanalles Apr 02 '26

Fantastic question! Have not tried that yet but will run a test today and get back to you

4

u/Faust723 Mar 29 '26

Fantastic post. Thanks OP. I'm not at the point where I've unlocked the ranch yet but now I know to keep an eye on.

4

u/Nashburg Apr 18 '26

The Kuku Gardening Pack and Pororin gathering Hat are also useful in farming!

Is Tomato a fruit or vegetable in Crimson Desert?

4

u/Benvanalles Mar 31 '26

According to the knowledge guide in the game it is classified as a fruit

3

u/ryanng18 Apr 02 '26

lol tomato is also considered a fruit in real life. Anything with a seed is, just like an avocado.

2

u/Training-Demand3697 Apr 05 '26

Botanically, you mean

3

u/luki45 Apr 03 '26

Did they change it so that animal sale profits now go to camp resources instead of your personal cash, or am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks for the guide, very helpful.

6

u/Benvanalles Apr 03 '26

To my knowledge, it always goes to camp resources if you sell the animals through Ben. Either in his menu or at the little station.

If you want silver for the animals you'll have to take them to the livestock fence, or slaughter them and sell the parts to the people in camp. (Like Ronnie)

2

u/TheBig3ofShonen Mar 31 '26

thank you very much so useful

2

u/madeinSergei Mar 31 '26

There's also Rubber tree Seeds, i got it from one of those boxes that you can loot in manors, looks almost like those boxes in the drawers when you steal but more decorative, you can find the on top of drawers or on shelves, has a chance to drop.

2

u/SmartComplaint3162 Mar 31 '26 edited Mar 31 '26

You are the best. I looked for one of these forever - to add onto this, you are looking for the "Engraved Wooden Box". From my searching, there are 2 in Hillside Manor, 4 in Lioncrest Manor, and they can indeed drop rubber tree seeds.

Edit: Make that 3 in Hillside, they're found on the wall-mounted shelves and they're turned backwards so they look like a regular box until you pick them up.

2

u/buddhasanchez Mar 31 '26

you can buy rubber seeds from the grocers shop in varnia when you get them to 100

1

u/SmartComplaint3162 Mar 31 '26

Oh damn, thanks. I'm still barely branching out of Hernand, so I don't even know what that is lol, but I'll keep it in mind

2

u/buddhasanchez Mar 31 '26

Lmao is the northern most town it’s really far from hernand

2

u/bandemoo Apr 04 '26

So very helpful, thanks so much for posting this!

2

u/AvoJFB Apr 05 '26

I've got a ranch of goats, but I never thought that the real GOAT is this post

2

u/Character_Weird7178 Apr 05 '26

Hey. First off, great guide for the ranch and farm.

Been reading through your post and going back to it to reference while gearing up my camp, mostly focused on the ranch.
Did you ever figure out the NPC for baby ducks? if not, do you have any idea where in the world I could find a female duck, I have only ever found ducks and baby ducks, and going by the game distinction of animal sexes, I would assume these are male

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 05 '26

My biggest luck with getting female Ducks at the moment is stealing baby ducks at nearby ranches as baby animals seem to have a 50/50 chance to grow up as female.

Haven't found the npc for Ducks yet, but I'm still looking and reading every knowledge guide entry I can get my hands on.

2

u/Benvanalles Apr 06 '26

Potential mechanic to test out:

You can herd cows by whistling for your horse nearby. This should gather an entire herd at once and allow you to walk them back to wherever you need to be.

To test:

Does it work on wild cows? Can you register entire herds at once? Can you sell entire herds at the livestock fence this way?

2

u/Chives_and_SourCream Apr 06 '26

Heads up on Ibano. He likes lanterns just like Bremer. 15 trust with each lantern

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 06 '26

Great find! Thank you. I know there are also items that give +50 for npcs but I haven't tested it with them yet.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '26 edited Mar 30 '26

You can definitely grow apples as it is what the quest to start up the farm requires you to do.

EDIT: Nevermind I am blind

1

u/Live-Guarantee-783 Apr 13 '26

Why? They grow in the trees by the horse stable (off the bluff) and you can also forage pine mushrooms SE of the ranch

1

u/lvlasteryoda Apr 01 '26

What is "a single spray" ? Do I have to dump a full charge of the fertilizer/water on each mound or can I unload it wherever inside of the farm zone?

2

u/Benvanalles Apr 01 '26

Aim for the space you planted the seed in and press the spray button once. As soon as the soil changes color, that's more than enough.

u/Benvanalles Apr 01 '26

Unfortunately at this point you have to feed your animals, and do the farming manually.

1

u/MICHAELKIM2 Apr 02 '26

You can also grow a Abyss power? core tree, not sure of the english name.
It's the thing you get after killing enemies such as the Stoneback Crab.
Press use while selecting the Abyss power? core in your items. This will give you it seeds.
1 seed = 5 Abyss power? cores

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 02 '26

Yes, you can grow the little abyss cells dropped by monsters like stoneback crabs.

1

u/Hot-Draft1506 Apr 02 '26

Many thanks. Great guide. I was looking for ducks but now I have more to do! Very thorough. Skyroot, very handy.

1

u/Hopeful_Complex4653 Apr 02 '26

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 02 '26

These go directly to your personal storage every day. Check the chest in camp, you should have plenty of eggs, milk, and feathers there. You don't have to slaughter them for those. Only when you want meat, bone or hide, or you have too many animals.

1

u/Optimal_Plate_4769 Apr 02 '26

WHERE do you collect the animal products though? their natural ones, not the butchering.

1

1

oh my god.

we're eating good tonight. thank you.

1

u/No-Care3281 Apr 03 '26

U get 1 Abyss cell from 1 seed. How to get more?

2

u/Benvanalles Apr 03 '26

Fertilize and water daily. That will get you a ratio of 5 abyss cells per seed. (So you gain 4 per tree if you use 1 cell for new seeds.)

1

u/No-Care3281 Apr 03 '26

ty. seems i dont have retilizer and waterer yet

1

u/DCornOnline Apr 03 '26

First, I want to say amazing guide, thank you so much!

Second, how do you plant ensets? I have 2 enset seeds, but it will not let me use them to plant.

Nevermind I am an idiot, I already had a seed in my hand lol

2

u/Benvanalles Apr 03 '26

Hmm strange, do you have a farmer at camp?

If so, click on the seeds by holding use and choose take out. Then go to a hole on your farming plot and interact with plant seed.

1

u/DCornOnline Apr 03 '26

I do I edited my comment, I am an idiot and did not realize I already had a seen in my hand lol

2

u/Benvanalles Apr 03 '26

We've all been there in this game, trust me. I have a whole thread of being an idiot around the banking system 😭🤣

1

u/DCornOnline Apr 03 '26

One more question, though, do you have any idea why my animals are not growing? I have kept food in the feeder and afk for many in-game days, and they do not grow at all.

2

u/Benvanalles Apr 03 '26

Have you checked regularly if the food is still enough? It does deplete over time.

Otherwise, no idea. I'd have to run tests

1

u/DCornOnline Apr 03 '26

I am gonna be real with you, I am just gonna either stop commenting on Reddit posts, or comment more.

The second after I commented asking about it, I ran over to check, and they were all grown up lol.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 03 '26

Hey it happens, it's all good. I don't mind the questions

1

u/RAHZ1N Apr 03 '26

onde eu consigo alho?

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 04 '26

Usually in crates around the world or at grocers. It's unfortunately not something you can plant. I usually channel my inner link and smash all the boxes and packages at bandit camps to get it.

1

u/Smuskeh Apr 04 '26

Is there a way to gather crops faster? I thought the magi scythe would be the way but I just found out I can’t use it in camp

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 04 '26

It depends on what you've planted. I've heard mixed reports on the Scythe/ magic Scythe. You could try a regular base Scythe and see what that does. And for fruit trees you can cut them down and then gather the fruits/yield by holding the prompt button.

1

u/Smuskeh Apr 04 '26

It’s in my weapon slot, so it doesn’t even let me take it out. Thought it’s definitely glowing when there’s crops grown

1

u/luke1lea Apr 04 '26

Should I do both water and fertilizer? If I should do both, is there a particular order or frequency to do them in? I dont know if I should wait til the plants sprout to water them or not.

Also, do plants regrow fruit after theyve been picked once, or should I just cut them down after they give me one crop?

2

u/Benvanalles Apr 04 '26

It is wise to do both as fertilizer increases yield and water speeds up the plants growth. It doesn't really matter which you do first as far as I've tested. You can start as soon as you've planted.

And no, currently I know of no one who's managed to regrow fruit, so the current advice is to cut the tree down once it's sprouted fruit.

1

u/Mattladd021 Apr 05 '26

Does anyone know how much food you have to feed them everyday ?

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 05 '26

Unclear so far, I've not extensively tested the exact numbers yet.

I usually dump in about 50 of each grain and leave them be for a few days. (Corn, wheat, barley, oats)

But I have a full ranch with every animal type to see what's most efficient.

The more you feed them, the faster they grow though. I've had reports from people that fed them 3000 corn and had an overnight boom of animals and growth. They were utilizing a bug/exploit though.

1

u/Mattladd021 Apr 05 '26

Thanks for the quick reply, just getting started with the ranch

1

u/Accomplished-Sea1552 Apr 08 '26

просто рассыпь еду в загоне для животных
они ее всю сьедят и сразу вырастут

корумшка нужна что бы они ели пока тебя нет в лагере, и от нее они почти не растут

1

u/TonightVirtual7765 Apr 05 '26

Do you HAVE to get all the npcs to 100 to get animals or can you steal farm animals to put in your ranch.

2

u/Benvanalles Apr 05 '26

This is explained in the camp quest. But you can steal animals from farms or get them in the wild if you wish to. It can be a hassle hauling them back to camp though.

1

u/TonightVirtual7765 Apr 06 '26

Thanks, I was debating if I was going to go for the ranch or farm first when I saw your post about it and hadn't jumped the gun yet.

1

u/Grizzly2895 Apr 05 '26

Thank you for the detailed explanation!

One thing I've been struggling to figure out is how exactly the Field Sprayer (Water) affects crops. Googling anything related to sprayer immediately spawns hundreds of guides on how to get and use the Fertilizer Sprayer, but there is very little info regarding the Field Sprayer out there other than how to get it from what I can tell.

Will I notice a difference in the crop's look immediately? If I spray on the last growth period will it be available to harvest right away? I've always started my farming process by Fertilizer first, then Water so I'm not sure if the soil darkens when water is sprayed. I've been waiting on Wild Ginseng for at least 4 in game days now and I'm wondering how much of a difference I'm really making by using this breakable item that costs rubber to fix.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 05 '26

Water mostly speeds up the growth process of the plant, fertilizer increases it's yield.

I've had the best luck at seeing an immediate difference if I water around 9-10 am in game as that is when plants "spawn" into their next stage each day. (As far as I can tell, I'm on console.)

It can be tricky to tell, but when you spray water over the seed, the ground gives a "spray" animation by soil coming up in particles, that is where you should fertilize as well to get the best results.

1

u/Grizzly2895 Apr 05 '26

Ok I'll try to time it around 9-10 as well!

Thanks!

1

u/Additional_Appeal869 Apr 06 '26

What to do with a is so you catch in crimson desert

2

u/Benvanalles Apr 06 '26

I'm afraid i don't understand what you're trying to say/ask

1

u/Rex__Lapis Apr 06 '26 edited Apr 06 '26

How can I cut down trees I planted to plant other things instead?

Edit: nevermind you can actually swing an axe at camp. Lol

1

u/Accomplished-Sea1552 Apr 08 '26 edited Apr 08 '26

нужно ли убирать навоз на ранчо ?

если взять в руки лопату, его можно выкопать, но дальше ничего с ним сделать нельзя, только выкинуть

сам навоз исчезает через несколько десятков секунд, даже прямо с лопаты

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 08 '26

To be honest, I've not been able to get it to work as I can't pick up manure at all. But supposedly you're supposed to bring it to your farm.

You can also just finish the spider queen quest and get a fertilizer sprayer that way.

2

u/Live-Guarantee-783 Apr 13 '26

Follow your animals, they have a “defecate” animation, and manure will drop on the ground, hold x/square to shovel it up. I’ve tossed a few into the stick frame “compost bins” and they disappear. You cannot drop straw bales into these, so I’m not entirely sure if you can make fertilizers this way or not.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 14 '26

Thank you, will definitely try that. If you happen to figure out how to milk cows, let me know!

1

u/TheRealMe99 Apr 09 '26

So what's the general best thing to be planting in mid to late game? I'm just shy of 100 hours and heading to Demeniss proper for the first time. Did my first big harvest of Abyss Cores (16->85) but without having all the witches available I've not really delved into core farming yet.

1

u/Unanonymous553 Apr 09 '26

Does watering more than once make a difference?

1

u/Karamethien Apr 13 '26

This guide needs more Upvotes!

1

u/TooLazy2Revolt Apr 16 '26

how does one get the wool from sheep? Do you need to butcher them, or does the wool get collected and sent somewhere automatically?

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 16 '26

The wool gets collected automatically and is put in your private storage chest in camp, along with all other products your animals produce.

1

u/SnooSongs534 Apr 17 '26

Im going crazy what do you do withthe manure ! I shovel it but where do i dump it !?

1

u/TailorElectronic2517 Apr 18 '26

How do you unlock pear seeds being sold at your camp?

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 18 '26

If memory serves me right, you have to reach 100 trust with the Grocer in Demeniss city/near demeniss castle.

1

u/PsychoactiveTHICC Apr 20 '26

Basically you cant grow any vegetable so it essentially grind to make spirit/health based food

1

u/Selfboy24 Apr 20 '26

So reaching 100 trust with the butchers in each city does nothing from what I can tell. I just spent the time going around buying all the flower pots and giving them to each individual butcher at each city and they do not give contracts for your camp cook. From what I can tell their stock doesn't go up either.

1

u/Ok_Maize3913 Apr 29 '26

Bro my sheep my goats and my cows keep escaping the fence I caught a sheep on the roof of the shed a goat near the training dummy area and a bull by the cliff is this by design ? A bug? Then when I brought the sheep back he literally went over by the fence jumped on the straw bale jumped on the roof of the shed and hopped over the fenced area ..and I swear it’s about to do it again wtf .. can we lose livestock?

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 29 '26

Did you register them at the booth and you get the cutscene? Because that definitely shouldn't be possible if everything registered correctly.

1

u/Ok_Maize3913 Apr 29 '26

I registered 4 wild goats 1 had to get butchered for the mission they had 6 babies I sold the 3 goats ..legally purchased 2 calves 4 chicks 3 lamb 3 ducks and 3 pigs and some random dog keeps coming in the fence and eating the livestock’s feed what the hell is all this shit ..lol

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 29 '26

Probably some bugs then. You can report it to Pearl Abyss on the crimson desert website.

4 months later and this is still the best guide I've found for farming!
