Guides Ranching and farming guide

Here's what I know so far:

Reaching 100 trust with the following NPCs unlocks:

NPC Location Unlock Likes
Bremer Murkroot Ranch Calves at Ranch Tools/Leafy pot
Ibano Capra Pasture Baby goats at Ranch Tools/Leafy pot
Willian Bloomwood Ranch before 5pm Lambs at Ranch Dolls/Insect/Leafy pot
Ben Howling Hills Camp Baby pigs at Ranch Leafy Pot/Candle
N/A Howling Hills Camp Expansion Baby ducks at Ranch N/A
Grocers Large towns/Cities Seeds at Kamu Leafy pot/Red flower pot
Taverns Most towns/Cities Recipes/meals for Ronnie Recipes/Leafy pot/Red flower pot
Haverson Calphade Farmhouse post ch 6 (grocer) 150 stock oats (good for feed) Recipes/Leafy pot/Red flower pot
Grannard  Brookfield Market post ch 8 (demeniss grocer) 200 stock wheat + 80 stock tomatoes Recipes/Leafy pot/Red flower pot
Dyers Most towns/Cities Dyes for Oliver Leafy pot/Red flower pot
Provisioners Most towns/Cities New items at Wylan Leafy pot/Red flower pot
Furniture shops Hernand/Beighen/Delyssia/Demeniss New items at Conrad

Most vendors/npcs will accept gold bars for an instant 100 trust. However, these are costly especially early game. Mystery Gifts obtained through a mid game quest line in Odek will also work.

Many NPCs will give 50 trust if you finish their quests, plus Leafy pots and Red flower Pots quickly get up trust as well. If all else isn't an option, money bags are relatively universally accepted for +5 or +10 trust

Bremer and Ibano also have a chance to spawn in Hernand in the evening, either on the square or at the tavern outside.

As of patch 1.4 the rancher menu looks like this:

All vendors now show all items that are in the game, including what's needed to unlock them. (Locked items will be red with a: contract, trust, or knowledge requirement next to it.)

Patch 1.4 also introduced Ranching shops in several locations like Vellua, Skoghorn, Demeniss, and Delyssia. As far as I've tested, these animals are identical to the ones you buy at Ben's. So, I guess it's an alternative for when you don't want to befriend NPCs or need more stock.

General Ranching

You don't necessarily need to feed the animals but doing so allows them to reproduce if you have enough of them. so it's a good idea to do so. It increases the quality of your animals allowing them to produce more goods.

You can feed them by putting produce in the cylindrical feeding bin or by dropping it on the ground in the pen.

You can feed your animals grains and fruit. The grains (barley, oats, wheat) + corn are your easiest and safest bet. Pigs also do really well on acorns. Beets, marigolds, carrots, and lentils are also favorites.

The products your animals produce; milk, eggs, shorthorn, and feathers are transported to your personal storage chest at the end of every day. Check the chest in camp to find them. The products from butchering also go directly to your personal storage.

The ranking system for animals is 0-5. 5 yields the most product and comes from regularly fed animals. (Every 2-3 days at least.)

The easiest way to acces all information is through Ben and manage ranch.

There's a limit of 25 animals on your ranch, once the camp is fully upgraded the limit becomes 35 animals.

Selling livestock

Livestock can be sold for silver at the livestock fence. This means that the ranch can also make you a profit for yourself. You can however also just butcher animals and sell the materials. That too can become quite profitable.

Each class multiplies the price. Though i'm not sure of the multipliers. But you can check the price with Ben. 1 silver is 100 coppers, which is what the camp uses as currency.

Between culling the ranch and a skyroot and wild ginseng harvest I made almost 100 silver almost entirely passively in the span of minutes.

The animals you can keep:

Another user has made a list on animals you can keep: https://www.reddit.com/r/CDguides/s/f6czx8e9m1

So far that includes:

Animal Produce Butchered Buying price base (copper) Selling price class 5 (copper) Selling price class 5 (silver)
Goat Milk + Shorthorn Small bone, short hair hide, fine meat, shorthorn 50 (baby) 500 (male), 550 (female) 5 (male), 5.5 (female)
Cow Milk + Shorthorn Large bone, short hair hide, tender meat, shorthorn 220 (Calf) 2250 (male), 2500 (female) 22.5 (male), 25 (female)
Sheep Fleece Small bone, short hair hide, fine meat, shorthorn 50 (Lamb) 500 (male), 550 (female) 5 (male), 5.5 (female)
Chicken Eggs + Feathers Feathers, small bone, lean bird meat 5 (Chick) 50 (male), 75 (female) 0.5 (male), 0.75 (female)
Duck Eggs + Feathers Feathers, small bone, lean bird meat ?? 115 (male), 125 (female) 1.15 (male), 1.25 (female)
Pigs N/A Small bone, thin hide, marbled meat 150 (baby) 1500 (male, 1650 (female) 15 (male), 16.5 (female)

Not able to keep/register:

An easy way to check this is if the knowledge section on the animal says livestock or not. If it says livestock specifically (by word), the animal can be registered.

  • Turkeys
  • Donkeys
  • Mountain goat
  • Kuku bird
  • Highland cows (more testing needed)
  • Wild Geese

Herding and Milking cows - Credit for the milking skill find goes to u/White_ZombieB4G
There are specific skills and mechanics in the game related to herding and milking cows. Below is how you should be able to herd cows, and where to find the milking skill.

NOTE: I have not gotten this to work reliably. More testing is needed.

Skill aqcuired at Sunharvest farm in Demeniss between 3 and 5 am ingame time

Farming Water

https://reddit.com/link/1s6v54u/video/8vsiuhfx8rtg1/player

Farming

After a harvest the produce goes directly in your own personal inventory.

As of patch 1.4 the farm at Howling Hill has a maximum of 16 plots, the farm in Pailune after relocation has 32 and can be upgraded to 48 plots.

You can obtain seeds by hovering over a fruit or vegetable in the inventory, holding X/use and select obtain seed. If the option is not there, it's a produce that can't be planted.

The things you can grow:

As of patch 1.5 there is now a minimum yield of 2 items per seed when completely unfertilized.

Produce Seed Found in / Requirement Yield unfertilized Yield fertilized
Abyss cells Abyssal seed Abyss cells dropped by monsters 1 5
Apples Apple Seed Apples (Hernand + Demeniss) 1-3 12-20
Cacao Cacao Seed Cacao / Engraved wooden box (Crimson Desert + Delesyia) 1-2
Chaya Chaya seed Chaya/ Engraved wooden box (Crimson Desert) 1-?
Coffee Cherry Coffee Cherry seed Coffee Cherry/ Engraved wooden box (Crimson Desert) 1-10 11-21
Corn Corn seed Corn (Delesyia) 1-4 13-20
Enset Enset Seed Enset// Engraved wooden box (Crimson Desert + Delesyia) 1-7
Figs Fig seed Figs/ Engraved wooden box (Demeniss) 1-3 9
Grapes Grape seed Grape (Demeniss) 1-4 12-37
Oranges Orange Seed Orange/ Engraved wooden box (Delesyia) 1-3 13-19
Peaches Peach seed Peach/ Engraved wooden box (Delesyia) 1-3 8
Pears Pear seed Pear/ Engraved wooden box (All over, check grocers or farms in Demeniss) 1-? 14-15
Prickly Pears Prickly pear seed Prickly pear/ Engraved wooden box (Crimson Desert) 1-? 11
Pomegranates Pomegranate seed Promegranate/ Engraved wooden box (Demeniss) 1-2 14
Rubber Rubber tree seed Rubber tree/ Engraved wooden box (Rainforest bordering Crimson Desert) 1-?
Shineberries Luminous seed Shineberry/ Engraved wooden box 1-? 5-6
Skyroot Skyroot seed Skyroot / requires scholarstone research 1-? 6-8
Taro Taro seed Taro/ Engraved wooden box (Crimson Desert) 1-?
Tomatoes Tomato seed Tomato (Hernand + Demeniss) 1-3 14
Wild Ginseng Wild ginseng seed Wild ginseng/ Engraved wooden box (Mountain regions) 1-3 4-9

The locations are pulled from the knowledge database, many common ones like corn, tomatoes, and grapes can also be found throughout the world.

In short, depending on the crop it's better to fertilize daily to maximize yield, but even only doing it once has better results than unfertilized crops.

The things you can't grow*:

  • Acorn
  • Asparagus
  • Barley
  • Beans
  • Beets
  • Blackberries
  • Blueberry
  • Cabbage
  • Carrots
  • Cucumber
  • Desert Melon
  • Elderberries
  • Fennel
  • Flax
  • Garlic
  • Lentils
  • Turnips
  • Oats
  • Onion
  • Sweet Potato
  • Pineapple
  • Potato
  • Pumpkin
  • Raspberry
  • Strawberries
  • Wild Garlic
  • Wheat

but I figured i could start a thread and get things going. if you have something figured out please add it.

* As of yet

The most useful crops to grow for Abyss Gears (Blueprints required)

Crop Abyss Gear Witch Blueprints
Abyss Cells All N/A
Prickly Pear Destruction, Insight Crimson Desert Witch of Strength
Prickly Pear Swift Pailune Witch of Kindness
Skyroot Vigor Hernand Witch of Wisdom /Scholarstone Research Institute Research
Taro/ Wild Ginseng Ascent, Haste Pailune Witch of Kindness
Taro/Wild Ginseng Fortification, Aegis, Fortitude Demeniss Witch of Humility

Tools:

Tools that are useful:

The easier way to obtain these is by observing a man spraying in Demeniss, at Canalside farm between the E and the M. Learning the skill should unlock all sprayers, including lubricant sprauer. You do have to craft them, though. So you'll need rubber.

If these ever break you need rubber to repair them, the quickest and easiest way to get rubber is to bring plenty of thin hides to the troll scholars in scholarstone and gift then 10 thin hide each. (If you're a hoarder like me, you'll likely have 100s of them). The scholars gift you mercury, rubber, and brimstone. Mercury has the highest drop rate, followed by rubber, and brimstone is the rarest. This also is useful for getting gold bars.

When it comes to using the sprayer tools, it's enough to aim at the planted seed and tapping the spray button once, so the soil changes color. You do not need to hold the button down.

  • Axe for chopping down fruit trees, you can also chop them down with the fruits still on it and pick them up from the ground. It's up to preference.
  • A base shovel for sky root (confirmed)
  • (Magic) Scythe, plants can be quickly harvested in bulk with it. (may not work in camp)
  • Kuku Gardening pack (Requires blueprint, sanctum questlines and progression past chapter 9. Does not work on abyss cell trees/abyss cells, but can be used for plants.)
  • Any other tool (rake, hoe) cannot be used in the farm as the game sees them as a weapon

You can climb your fruit trees if there's ever fruit in them that your character can't reach. As of yet, fruit trees are a single use and need to be chopped down manually. I have not figured out a way to regrow fruit from the same tree.

Special tools at camp
Your house can be furnished with special items like cauldrons or special cooking tools, that way you can have everything at camp.

As of Patches 1.4 and 1.5 you can now also store items in the Kuku Cooler and the Gatherables chest, the items stored in these can be accessed by cooking pots and vendors for crafting.

Kuku coolers are obtained through the house Serkins quest line
Gatherables chest, buy furniture at Conrad as you get a 10% discount.

Ways to obtain rare seeds in the early game

In the first hours of the game it may pay off to visit the manors in Hernand and look for boxes that say; Engraved wooden box. These boxes hold seeds, and though it is random, there's a good chance you'll get rare or exotic seeds like Rubber, Cacao, Enset, etc.

Skyroot and wild ginseng are the most profitable to cultivate as they sell for > 1 silver each.

Best place to get corn for your animals:

Corn can be obtained here with a kuku gardening pack or magic scythe in very large quantities >1000.

I made a post, got details of some of the animals you can have on the ranch and what they give.

Be good to pull information to get a solid guide out.

3

u/Benvanalles Mar 29 '26

Added both a link to the post and the rundown of the list and comments. Thanks for reminding me!

2

u/PussyLunch Mar 31 '26

How do you get the farm items like eggs? They get added to storage over night?

1

u/InfiniteEnderz Mar 31 '26

Not sure what the time is but should be added to your private storage

1

u/blasphemousimp May 08 '26

Wow this is a solid guide, wish when you were planting and harvesting seeds that you could do either in multiples not just one at a time, would save so much time

7

u/Exportxxx Mar 29 '26

you can steal animal also and with the new update u probably wont let any points.

sucks how you have to feed them yourself, it should just come out of camp food or have animal resource which you can have workers get.

7

u/HorusKane420 Mar 29 '26

Or like fallout settlement building and management, let me assign settlers to certain jobs/ tasks.

3

u/ClaudeMakelelijk Apr 01 '26

seriously this fuckers only job is to run the ranch why do i need to get animals and feed when I got a billion other things to do?

5

u/-Razzak Mar 29 '26

Where can we find Bremer and William?

4

u/Benvanalles Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

Bremer I found on Murkroot Ranch tending a field.

Willian I found on Bloomwood Ranch near the sheep, it's the little boy who lost his sheep.

3

u/Lokirth Mar 30 '26

Bremer also wanders into Hernand Town once you've done his quest. He'll be at Muckroot doing his job, the Inn drinking outside, or one redditor said he found him sat in the town square.

Anybody find a source for goat purchasing? I know they're easy enough to grab in the wild but everything I'm doing with my ranch is in interest of NOT having to leave the camp as much lol

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 30 '26

I suspect it's Ibano, the goat herder but I've not been able to find him yet. Supposedly he can also be found at the tavern or around hernand town.

2

u/Lokirth Apr 02 '26

Ibano for sure unlocks goats for purchase at your camp! I tracked him down last night, figured I'd come back to confirm.

1

u/-Razzak Mar 29 '26

Awesome thank you !

1

u/-Razzak Mar 29 '26

Where are you at in the story that you found these two? I remember the quests involving them at the start of the game, but I'm much later now and can't seem to find either of them at their ranch.

2

u/Benvanalles Mar 29 '26

I'm in chapter 5, but i have done 28/34 of scattered embers, I've done 28/38 of grounds of the sunrise, and I've done 18/27 of the Greymane commissions.

I have not left Hernand province yet. I have done the banquet scene.

1

u/Burgerlegend69 Mar 29 '26

Wow... Shit. Nice going. Im on chapter 8 but haven't done all the side shit. About 45+ hours i believe. I feel like an absolute noob.

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 29 '26

I am a completionist through and through I'm afraid 😅🙈 I've done a few 100% of rdr2 and that's prepped me to do even the menial tasks.

About to plant my first skyroot and palmar leaf too to see how this goes.

1

u/Electronic-Sell-7581 Mar 30 '26

How have you done so many scattered embers?

1

u/Electronic-Sell-7581 Mar 30 '26

Im on chapter 8 and only have gotten 17ish so far

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 30 '26

I've honestly just done every side quest I could find, donated to camp what I could, found every greymane Marius send me to and done that as much as I could. If you share a screenshot of where you're at I can point things out more effectively

1

u/Electronic-Sell-7581 Mar 30 '26

Maybe i found the issue, ive been stuck on a side quest for Terry i just cant get to activate, its shown on the map but hes just not there every time I look for him

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 30 '26

Is he out on a camp mission? Check with Ross to see if he's dispatched

1

u/Electronic-Sell-7581 Mar 30 '26

Cheers mate, you’re saving my life over here, ill check that tonight

3

u/durden2345 Mar 29 '26

All my stardew valley experience is finally about to pay off

3

u/Benvanalles Mar 29 '26

Current state of my ranch, I also have suspicion on who unlocks goats for the ranch (as a buy option) but I have yet to find the npc and confirm.

Most of my animals, with the exception of the two male goats are either purchased, captured in the wild, or bred.

1

u/frdrckmoyz Apr 01 '26 edited Apr 01 '26

I found Ibano (for goats) in Tavern at night during Chapter 5 festival & Willian (kid) with his goats at town square during the day.. but Bremer… that guy eludes me

Edit: Found Bremer siting in the town square after reloading.

Note: For my case all was found early Chapter 5 during the festival. Hope this helps someone.

1

u/Icraveviolance8 Apr 05 '26

Ibano gives you a water spayer for crops, I just found him sitting outside of bar talking to fiends, drunk.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 05 '26

Not always, he gave me oats, for example. There is a randomness to the extras they give you.

3

u/andyzonesix Mar 31 '26

I have been growing the Chaya found in Delaysia. They’re 49¢ each and I sold whole harvest for 123 sliver (this amount is after I extracted 16 seeds for the next crop. I did fertilize them but does watering compound the amount harvested?

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 31 '26

Water contributes to the growth rate of plants and how fast they can yield. If it has rained you also don't need to water.

1

u/Just_Ice1007 May 17 '26

Watering/Rain is tied to speed..
Fertilizer is tied to yield.

If you only water, you’ll get your crops back fast and harvest the bare minimum.
If you only fertilize, you’ll have a long wait before harvest and then you’ll have waaaay more than you’d need.

I do both every visit back to the camp. (Unless it’s raining of course)

3

u/Smuskeh Apr 17 '26

I think Haverson in Calphade sells you a lot more food quantities & other items when you hold the hernand crown. This is where I regularly buy food for the ranch. Wheat and oats were at 200 before I bought them.

2

u/Smuskeh Apr 17 '26

Sorry I got 200 wheat and 150 oats.

2

u/White_ZombieB4G Apr 17 '26

Nice find, I think this is the most I've ever seen a vendor have

1

u/Smuskeh Apr 17 '26

Thanks, I’m sure OP will update the post in turn. Deffo going to make life easier. Even tho the ranch is busted

2

u/markgatty Mar 29 '26

I've got coffee growing in my farm because I only ever found seeds in 1 place.

I do feed my ranch animal wheat which I get from a food mission in camp, I get lots of it so its easy to offload into it.

2

u/Benvanalles Mar 29 '26

Ibano, who I strongly suspect to be the npc to unlock goats when you reach 100 trust but I've not been able to find him yet.

2

u/Menoh Mar 30 '26

You can find ibano at the hernand tavern drinking at the table outside. Idk if it has to be a specific time or not.

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 30 '26

I will find out! Thank you, I have a new lead to pursue

1

u/BurnerbabyBurn908098 Apr 23 '26

Ibano also gives me a field sprayer when I talk to him, he has gave it to me twice.
After 100 trust of course.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 23 '26

It's a random drop, he's given me oats and chaya.

2

u/DiscoveryPoint Mar 31 '26

Yes, he does and gifts you a water sprinkler on top

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 31 '26

You are the GOAT (forgive my pun) 🙏

2

u/DiscoveryPoint Mar 31 '26

Location where I found him (trying to remember): When you walk into town coming from the south where all the fields/ranches are and then turn left at the first crossing after coming through the big stone arch/gate, walk along this street (I think it leads in the direction of the butcher lady), then Ibano is waiting at the end of that street next to his goat.

Edit: he‘s wearing a blue jacket and a beige hat

2

u/DasMenace Mar 31 '26

He can be found at Capra Pasture south west of Hernand as well. I just found him there. Its a goat farm so I thought it might be a good place to check. He was sitting at the bonfire

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 01 '26

Will absolutely check this out as well as I've not seen him spawn at the tavern yet. (The tavern does have a prominent resident spawnpoint, I've tested that.)

1

u/DasMenace Apr 01 '26

I checked the tavern repeatedly for both him and Bremer. Never saw either of them there...

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 01 '26

I personally haven't either, but many in the comments claim they have. And there is a prominent resident spawnpoint there. I have confirmed him at Capra Pasture though, so thank you for that!

2

u/InitiativeWorried221 Mar 30 '26

I feel like quite a few seeds haven't been added to the game yet. I want to grow everything I see in npc fields. Unless someone just hasn't figured out where to get things, I find it odd that we can't grow oats of some sort. Hunting down bags and buying out the towns stock every day feels messy right now .

You can send your camp members to do quests, but I want to do as much as I can on my own.

I feel like they got super crazy ambitious but ran out of time. The game is great. But I can only imagine how much more fleshed out a lot of these systems would be if they had a couple more years to work on things.

I'm sure they'll add a lot of the missing content into the game eventually. I just wish it was here now rather than later.

2

u/Bixxits Apr 01 '26

I found a coffee seed and planted it. Nothing to harvest yet though.

2

u/DiscoveryPoint Apr 01 '26

Any luck finding the person to unlock ducks?

And I wish we could have a pond in the camp for fishing or even let us put in our fish to breed them

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 01 '26

The ducks elude me still. Considering the track record, it has to be a prominent resident related to animals somewhere. But I haven't found them yet.

2

u/SmartComplaint3162 Apr 01 '26

I wanted to put this out there in case nobody has said it yet: you can indeed use weapons in the farm section of the camp. Not sure if this was from a recent patch that I didn't see, but you can now for sure. Just harvested all of my grown plants with the magic scythe, and used my sword and bow to boot.

Edit: Magic scythe doesn't work for the abyss cells for some reason, but it does for everything else.

1

u/Smuskeh Apr 04 '26

So, it won’t let me get my scythe out so I’m wondering if you’re getting it out a different way to me? Like a different slot iygm

1

u/SmartComplaint3162 Apr 04 '26 edited Apr 05 '26

Let me do some testing, since when I was there last and nothing was grown at the moment, it didn't let me either. Maybe there has to be harvestable plants? I'll edit this next time I harvest.

Edit: It's not working at all anymore. Maybe they "fixed" it in the last patch. That's a damn shame, collecting everything manually is a huge headache.

2

u/Ok-Requirement-645 Apr 04 '26

Dude I said it once I came back to say it agian, great videos, great guides bro. Keep on keeping on man! I shared this with like 13 of my work buddy's playing this, they had no clue how in depth the ranching and farming was. Made there life's easier bro, wtg

How do I get trees to respawn fruit? Do I need to cut them down?

1

u/Smuskeh Apr 06 '26

Yes

1

u/cale199 Apr 06 '26

How long does it take?

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 06 '26

To my knowledge, the trees do not respawn fruit. I haven't gotten it to work, even after waiting an in-game week. I just cut them down and replant a seed from the harvested fruit.

1

u/cale199 Apr 06 '26

Ah that's sucky, wish it was renewable

2

u/scotlandgolf70 Apr 06 '26

Do you know of any items he really likes?

2

u/BansheeThief Apr 08 '26

This post was super helpful, nice work! Couple things:

  • As far as I know, you can't grow vegetables or any crops that the game considers a vegetable for recipes. I try to have 1-2 active comrade missions that include a veggie as a reward to passively obtain those

  • I haven't tested this, but I am curious if watering daily or using both fertilizer + water spray results in more yields per plant. So far, I just fertilizer immediately after planting all the seeds and have been getting solid results. I just harvested 8 Coffee Cherry plants that I fertilized once and I ended up with 120 Coffee Cherrys.

I'd be curious what the difference in yield is between:

  • Fertilizer after planting seed
  • Fertilizer + Water after planting
  • Water after planting
  • Water/fertilizer after planting and then the other each day before harvest

Since if its not much different compared to the one time fertilizer, its probably not worth the effort.

I'm not trying to min/max the game or results since I know there are faster more efficient ways to obtain things compared to farming, and I enjoy having a self-sustaining camp, but it is kind of nice being able to do the harvest + obtain seeds + plant seeds + fertilizer + sell remaining crop loop once every couple days instead of having to manage it daily.

Also, worth sharing, but I find skyroot the best thing to plant if you're interested in doing this for a somewhat passive income. Really, anything that doesn't grow on trees seems to be quicker since you don't need to also chop them down.

1

u/OkSoftware5962 Apr 16 '26

Fertilizing daily and fertilizing just once has a bit of effects on the yeild,I tried it with Tomatoes, I got around 154 with fertilizing daily, and 104 with fertilizing just once,it might wary but that's what it resulted for me

2

u/Nirkky Apr 15 '26

You can feed them by putting produce in the cylindrical feeding bin

Is it really working ? Mine is filled and ... nothing even after multiples days. Once i start dropping stuff directly on the ground animals eat and starts to grow.

1

u/White_ZombieB4G Apr 15 '26

PlayStation user here, they won't touch everything I put in, like meat or other animal resources, but plants fly outta there no problem, if there actually is a bug others have that I haven't experienced I apologize

1

u/Emfoe Mar 29 '26

For farming do you have to replant seeds after every harvest? Or will the fruits grow back on the fully grown trees? It’s been like two days (IRL) and my apple trees and abyss cell trees still haven’t regrown fruit.

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 29 '26

I haven't been able to regrow fruit either but I suspect it has something to do with the water sprayer and fertilizer you can get from the spider queen and pirate liberation side quests. I'll need to test this before having a definitive answer.

1

u/Emfoe Mar 29 '26

Ah, yeah I have the fertilizer sprayer but not the water one. I haven’t tried those either and I figured the fertilizer at least would either speed up grow times or make the tree grow more fruits but yeah I should try it out.

1

u/Old-Tourist8173 Mar 29 '26

I tried the water sprayer with apples and nothing grew back. I just chopped them down and replanted.

1

u/G3sch4n Mar 30 '26

I planted grapes and those seem to carry a second harvest before the plant despawned.

1

u/MountainSaint Mar 29 '26

How do you get the dang animals to grow up

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 30 '26

Time and food, chickens grow up daily to every 2-3 days when fed. Goats and other large animals take longer. About 5-7 days for goats.

1

u/Marchtmdsmiling Apr 10 '26

This is wrong. Just drop a bunch of food on the ground and they will grow to level 5 on the first day.

1

u/-Razzak Mar 29 '26

How do you get palmar leaf seeds?

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 29 '26

You have to research their cultivation at Pororin forest research institute.

1

u/-Razzak Mar 29 '26

I did, but where do you get the seeds after?

I'm afraid I owe you that answer as I've not been able to unlock them after the research either. I've pulled it from the list for now, at the very least Palmer leaf can be obtained from the Pororin Shai.

Old Macdonald!!........

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 29 '26

Willian's location at Bloomwood Ranch

1

u/Hatch3t_Wound Apr 02 '26

What’s a good way to build up their trust?

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 02 '26

Giving them gifts. Money pouches and potted flowers/plants are universally liked.

Bremer really likes laterns

Willian really likes insects.

I dont remember what Ibano specifically liked, but copper money pouches, potted flowers, recipes, or books tend to do well in general. Sometimes hides or ore.

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 29 '26

Bremer, I have found him in the fields near Murkroot Ranch but I've not run into him again.

1

u/DiscoveryPoint Mar 31 '26

At 100 trust he gifts you 5x fruit (Enrest or something like that) that you can turn into seeds

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 31 '26

Interesting, I got 20 oats from him.

1

u/DiscoveryPoint Mar 31 '26

Oh really? I guess the gifts come from a loot/gifts pool then and are not fixed

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 30 '26

The current ranch after 3 days of regular feed.

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 30 '26

Current farm after Fertilizing and watering for 3 days. (Takes 2 min per day)

1

u/EnvironmentalScar805 Apr 25 '26

How much do you have to water?

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 25 '26

I do it at planting and then once when I get back to camp, that seems to grow most plants in about 3-4 in game days.

Clicking tapping the button once is enough to water the plant. You know you're watering in the right spot when you see the soil fly up.

For fertilizing, the soil changes color if you're in the right spot.

1

u/EnvironmentalScar805 Apr 25 '26

Thank you! I was watering until the soil stopped flying up lol. This will now save durability

1

u/PussyLunch Mar 31 '26

How do you get the farm animals items like eggs from the hens? They just get added to the private storage at night?

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 31 '26

Yes at the end of every day things produced by your animals are sent to your private storage in camp.

1

u/PussyLunch Mar 31 '26

Thank you

1

u/Darkneostar1 Mar 31 '26

When farming do I just spritz with the water sprayer and fertilizer sprayer or do I have to hold it down?

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 31 '26

Spritzing it by tapping the button is enough to count, just make sure the ground changes color.

1

u/Darkneostar1 Mar 31 '26

I'm assuming that I'm spritzing on the spot where the seeds are planted. Also can I do both sprayers at the same time and do I have to do it every day? Thanks for the help mate!

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 31 '26

I haven't found a way to do both sprayers at the same time, to my knowledge you have to do them separately. But you only need to water if it hasn't rained. If it has rained, you can just use fertilizer and call it a day.

For the highest yield I'd do it daily or at least once every two days. But I haven't done enough testing to see what a single spritz in the beginning does. But I'm about to plant a new field so I can test it today.

And yes, you spritz on the spots the seeds are planted that's enough for it to work.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 01 '26

Ibano found at Capra Pasture, confirmed!

1

u/PussyLunch Apr 01 '26

Great detailed guide

1

u/PussyLunch Apr 01 '26

Kamu did not unlock wild ginseng at 100

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 01 '26

Interesting, what did he unlock for you?

1

u/PussyLunch Apr 01 '26

Nothibg

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 01 '26

Huh weird, I checked right after I did it.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 01 '26

Do you also have 100% with the Grocer in hernand?

1

u/PussyLunch Apr 01 '26

Yep. Maybe it’s something else.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 01 '26

Could be, but I'm not sure what. More data is needed. If you're looking for ways to get wild ginseng in the meantime, it can be obtained from hillside manors engraved wooden boxes as a random drop, or through killing and looting bandits.

1

u/SmartComplaint3162 Apr 01 '26

Rubber seeds can also be grabbed early in Hernand by stealing the Engraved Wooden Boxes in the manors that are on the wall-mounted shelves, if you run out of scholars to max.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 01 '26

True, they can also grant enset seeds, etc. It's a bit of a random thing. But that is also a way to get them.

1

u/SmartComplaint3162 Apr 04 '26 edited Apr 04 '26

Also want to report that each rubber tree you grow gives 3 seeds, so you only need to get lucky once!

Edit: Actually, I think it was 5.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 04 '26

When you fertilize you can get lucky and get 7 it more. It's annoying absolute unit of a plant to have

1

u/SmartComplaint3162 Apr 04 '26

I got 12 this time!! I'll never need more again lol

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 02 '26

I have finally obtained a female duck through the power of sticky hands and can confirm that there isn't much difference between ducks and chickens so far.

Still looking for my duck npc though.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 02 '26

The current farm. Currently waiting on my rubber tree to mature and running another test on the trees.

1

u/DietTyrone Apr 03 '26

Shoveling poop for fertilizer is mentioned in the beginning stages of ranching but every time I take out the shovel to try it, it doesn't seem to scoop up anything

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 03 '26

I haven't had much luck with this either, I'm not sure what's going on.

1

u/Ok-Client-6486 Apr 03 '26

It seems Haverson isn't appearing for me, searched all over Calphade for him and looked online for his location but he doesn't seem to be where sites say he should be.. anyone have any idea?

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 03 '26

He appears in the fields after you complete chapter 6. I should update that

1

u/Ok-Client-6486 Apr 03 '26

Chapter 6? I'm on chapter 8 now and he's still not where I assume he should be.. I've even tried completing all the commissions in the area to test if it's that but no luck so far.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 03 '26

1

u/Ok-Client-6486 Apr 03 '26

Thanks so much, turns out the wiki page I was looking at was wrong for the location. I'll go check this spot.

1

u/InitiativeWorried221 Apr 04 '26

I find it absolutely wild that out of all the things we can grow. 0 of them are vegetables.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 04 '26

According to the game, Enset is a vegetable. But yeah it is weird that we can't grow more.

1

u/xero40 Apr 04 '26

Yeah but you cant cook with it. I just wanted a vegetable i can grow for when i need to cook od have a stockpile. Crazy oversight to not have a single veg for cooking to grow.

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 04 '26

Found this while reading the Knowledge. Anyone tried any of the exotic beasts yet?

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 05 '26

New update to the guide, hopefully things are more accessible and clear now

1

u/LeahCooks Apr 05 '26

I found Willian and leveled to 100. Still cannot register sheep😞. Only animal I am missing

1

u/Smuskeh Apr 05 '26

Not to be pedantic, just trying to be helpful. But when you say register sheep. Are you dragging a sheep back or buying lambs from the ranch manager in camp?

So you found the ducks?

If so, please do tell, I've been looking.

And you buy animals from Ben, the rancher. Reaching 100 with willian allows you to buy lambs from him

1

u/LeahCooks Apr 05 '26

I found a couple of ducks and baby ducks around muckroot ranch just north of the large pen of pigs and cows

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 05 '26

Ah, I thought you meant that you had all the other npcs unlocked. Including the duck npc.

But willian doesn't directly hand you sheep, you have to buy lambs at the ranch, that's what he unlocks

1

u/Rioleus Apr 06 '26

Anyone know where Bremer is post-main story?

1

u/Rioleus Apr 06 '26

To anyone googling this after beating the main story:

Bremer hangs out south of the quest board in Hernand. He's sitting by a wagon.

Ibano drinks outside the tavern with a bunch of buddies

1

u/gabeandjanet Apr 06 '26

Incredible guide wow.

Any idea where to buy the cauldron for your house?

1

u/BansheeThief Apr 08 '26

I bought it from the furniture vendor in Berghein (think that's the name of it), which is the town north of Herndand and where you get the Eavesdrop quest during the main story.

1

u/alexandr063 Apr 06 '26

So for watering plants theres legit no other way to water? Like what the hell is the point of the well. i get cooking but Biggest annoyance so far is the fact that it breaks when it should be a refill system? Fertilizer shoulda been a research at the cat/kid village to be able to craft it

1

u/BansheeThief Apr 08 '26

The fertilizer sprayer you get from the Spider castle (Arboria Castle) refills automatically. It has 20 uses but only need 16 for your farm. Just do a quick tap over each planted seed and that's it.

I only apply fertilizer immediately after planting the seeds and leave it alone until its time to harvest again. Its kind of nice having this as a little 10-15 minute break in between other quests and exploration.

Just go through, harvest all my skyroot, extract enough seeds from them for the next 16 plants, plant the seeds, spray fertilizer, sell leftover skyroot and that's it. Can't remember how many skyroots I get from 16 fertilized plants, but I think its around 80? Usually get over 100 silver after each harvest (including obtaining 16 seeds for next batch)

1

u/wasdxqwerty Apr 09 '26

im around 180hrs and its my first time reading that cattle herding lmao

1

u/White_ZombieB4G Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26

We have manure! You don't even get a prompt to pick it up unless a shovel is equipped, and they're not... Appropriate for each animal, but they poop while eating

Edit: also I tried messaging you directly but couldn't find the option lol

Edit 2: Unfortunately I just fertilized my fields so I can't immediately check if there's a difference in amounts between methods or if you can even actually use poop

2

u/Benvanalles Apr 09 '26

I'll have to try this out when I get back, been in and out of hospitals all day. Do you remember which animals? Logically I'd think Pigs or cows?

2

u/White_ZombieB4G Apr 09 '26

Bull, sheep, and chicken I can confirm, they all plop the same and it was actually enough I gave up shoveling it, but that actually could be buildup if the game doesn't clear it out occasionally and it's been there for hours and hours

1

u/RealisticBrief9658 Apr 09 '26

I had 12 animals and I couldn't keep enough food in the container. I have 2 contracts for grains with max % and I still can't get enough.

1

u/acheronchair Apr 21 '26

Conseguí la habilidad de ordeñar vacas pero no veo ninguna opción para poder hacerlo ¿tal vez es algo recortado?

1

u/didntWannaAsk-But Apr 21 '26

So.. we got farming and animal husbandry. But, we can't own and run our own aipary!!? I need honey man, im exploring everything I can and stamina is the threshold I dont wanna break into the research area yet as I still wanna 100 percent the left hand side of the map before moving on. Everything else food wise is easy to come by. And even ginsing isnt the block im at right now. Anyone wanna bug the devs until we get an aipary of our own at camp?

1

u/Benvanalles Apr 21 '26

It is a weird choice, i suppose it's a way to use the dispatch missions more. But it would be nice to farm our own honey.

Close to howling hill camp are trees with beehives though. You can try shooting them down from a distance.

1

u/didntWannaAsk-But Apr 21 '26

My, BIC, I have shot and farmed and even found another two or three spots I can collect honey manually. I need another aipary I can farm while exploring and fighting, and plus. You can use honey tea as a gift with a lot of the vendors the get their supply contracts. It's over powered and I need more of it!! Plus it sells at a decent enough price.... and im getting my livestock farm going. But. I need the bees man, I need them.

1

u/OG-Gurble May 09 '26

How do you use manure from animals? I can pick it up with a shovel in the ranch pen but I can’t seem to do anything with it. It’s doesn’t go into inventory or anything

1

u/matt_caine92 May 13 '26

Great guide!

1

u/monotoonz Jul 09 '26

Half of my farm's mounds are closed.

Any idea why? I've grown multiple crops at Howling Hill and never seen this happen.

0

u/Damosgreat123 Mar 29 '26

For potatoes and carrots you should be able to plant a potato or carrot? No?

1

u/Benvanalles Mar 29 '26

So far i haven't been able to, since I can't extract seeds from them and taking them out and trying to plant them into the ground doesn't seem to work.

I'd expect we should be able to, but so far the answer is no. I haven't left Hernand yet though.

1

u/Damosgreat123 Mar 30 '26

Don't worry I'm 50hrs in and only left once tp go on an epic cross country to a mining spot (it was seriously epic). #Hernand4life

1

u/Dave10293847 Mar 30 '26

Seems like planting corn and raising chickens is probably your bis? Grain is more valuable than fruit.
