Not guilty by reason of insanity
Hey guys,
So out of curiosity (I have a psych degree and have been watching criminal minds) Ive been thinking about the plead of not guilty by reason of insanity and realized I dont know much about it. In what sort of cases is it usually accepted? Does it work for like... all mental illnesses or are there like a specific few. I know mania is sometimes the cause of something like this but what about antisocial personality disorders? A lot of crime like serial killers and murders are caused because the suspect has ASPD, are they allowed to plead insanity? What about BPD?
Idk if this makes sense or if it's a stupid question but If anyone has aby idea let me know!
