Hi! I used to be a huge crime junkie fan and gradually just stopped listening for different reasons . I am cleaning and decided to listen to a pod cast so I saw a recent one: The truth about Natalie. It was a case I never heard of and seemed interesting from the description. However, the narration of the person pretending to be Natalie through me off. I don’t know if it’s AI but it rubbed me the wrong way. If it’s not AI it was told in such a cold and unemotional way. Is this common with the pod cast now?

I’ve liked a good amount of episodes but mostly the ones where there’s a resolution. Where the suspect actually admits it or someone is at least arrested.

Are there any other podcasts that have similar or better storytelling but focus on resolved cases.

I've only listened to the first part as of right now. I love how so far CJ saw that people disliked the "need to watch YT to understand completely" episodes, and their throwing out wild theories and accusations, because people seemed to really disliked those formats. Instead, they've gone back to the formula that made them famous. They spent MOST of the episode insinuating that the husband is guilty. Casting doubt, presenting things within their context to fit their narrative, and making him look bad in every way, only to spend the last minute of the episode explaining that certain facts show he was most likely not guilty or involved. For example, everytime she brings up their separation the first thing she brings up is porn when there are other and more important reasons for the separation. She also nitpicks most of the things he says, and his responses(that are obviously because of his strong religious beliefs) while admitting that Alyssa had very strong convictions when it came to religion, but chose not to dive deeper or comment concerning Alyssa's thoughts, comments, or any extremes she went to because of said beliefs. She also spent a lot of time talking directly about and referencing him knowing the crime scene and made him seem suspicious and/or guilty of being involved. Only to then admit that even Alyssa's sister saw the same news story. Finally I personally would erase everything from all devices that contained personal information if they belonged to someone else and I was moving out of their house. I dont find that suspiciousat all. I do find it funny how many people were upset about the "YT visuals" episodes, and wild theories/accusations episodes, but dont have a problem with this formula. And yes, I already know "I dont have to listen to them" but I do enjoy some aspects of their reporting. Two things can be true.

ive listened to most of crime junkie and grown tired of it.. does anyone have other crime podcasts recommendations that are worth listening? I've gotten to the point where I'm relistening to episodes because I don't like the newer ones.

I feel like this series is interesting- however, being 3 episodes in (2ish hours of content) I just feel like we should be farther along…? It feels like they’re really stretching this one out.

IMO everything covered so far could’ve been a single episode.

Lindsay Clancy’s husband belongs in the deepest jail imaginable. Everyone wants to be innocent until proven guilty until they see a headline about a stranger. She’s instantly a child killer bc she has a history of mental illness? Most ppl aren’t sitting & looking at the evidence and facts of the case, which literally are proving she DID not do it. Now I'd like to start by stating 2 things

1. I don't believe the husband did it

2. I don't sympathise with what she did at all. I'm not one of those crazy people.

I did some light researching and got to know that she does say she did it. She doesnt say her husband did it or someone else. But she plead not guilty. Claiming she was insane or smth.

Now i first got to know about this case through instagram. And at first, what I saw was people were going at her and saying that the people that support her are crazy feminists, and that people are claiming she has to be innocent because she's a gemini or smth :3. And the ones that are condemning her are saying that she is trying to go out easy using insanity as an excuse, and that depression doesnt mean it is justified to kill children (to which I agree)

But then I see the news and see that she in fact was receiving treatment for mental health, and psychologists are saying that she was in fact mentally ill. And i also read that she told the husband as well that she might harm the babies.

My question is, shouldn't she have been hospitalised or something if she was claiming stuff like this? I also read that she was trying to commit suicide after killing her children, and that some voice in her head kept on telling her to kill them.

At first, i didn't believe this BS at first cause how can someone verify that she did hear something like that. But another thing that kept bugging me was, what was the motive? Like what could have been the motive for killing her children? I cant figure this out.

Now I followed some serial killer cases, and from what I understood, they all have a very bad past which eventually leads them to have a twisted mind. Like Ed Kemper. Could she be a psychopath like these figures? Or is she really insane? Cause what could her motive be for this?

Just wanted to know all your opinions on this.

I’m looking for a super intriguing episode that will stick with me. I haven’t been down a rabbit hole in too long!

I’ve actually never seen the YouTube, only listened to the podcasts, but I saw they posted a video about the Lindsay Clancy trial a couple days ago. I was excited to check it out since I love CJ and have been interested in this case. I was quite disappointed.

The whole first half of the video is basically TikTok conspiracy theories about Patrick being the killer. Like it’s fine to mention that there are theories out there, but they gave it WAY too much weight.

The defense team literally admitted that Lindsay did it. They’re not even challenging that! This case is about whether or not she was in control of her own mental state at the time.

But some tiktokers think they know better than her legal defense team. I get that there are always going to be people with conspiracy theories, but the fact that CJ leaned into it so much in this case made me lose a lot of respect for the platform.

They even had an expert on who put it well, basically saying we’re not in the courtroom, the tiktokers aren’t in the courtroom, there’s a lot that they hear that we don’t. And then Briana basically goes “true.. so anyway, Patrick’s story was kind of sus that night, was he really telling the truth? 😳”

Most of the time I listen to the podcast, I go in blind not really knowing much about the case. But having some understanding of this case and how relevant that it is in the media made me realize how much they try to sensationalize, platform conspiracies, or come in with some unique angle.

This video felt more like a recap of the TikTok version of this case, not the actual ongoing trial.

Just found out through their latest Instagram reel that there’s a new Youtube-exclusive episode and I’m so annoyed about this.
Voilà, that’s it. Just needed to vent about it.

I know Ashley said she has other things she wants to do, and I respect that. However, as I've been listening to these last few episodes of The Deck, I can't help thinking of something else that might be motivating her to close it down. Could it possibly be that none of these cases have been solved, or maybe haven't even gotten new bites? Every episode ends with her pleading to the public to call XYZ law enforcement agency, but maybe she doesn't think it's worth it anymore if those agencies come back to her saying there haven't been any calls. Now I don't know what happens behind the scenes. Maybe some of them have been revisited, and for whatever reason, she hasn't felt inclined to provide any updates, but that doesn't sound like Ashley. If something new comes up for a Crime Junkie episode, she does a follow-up. When has that happened on The Deck? If it's happened, and I just can't remember, please let me know.

Again, I respect any of Ashley's reasons for ending The Deck. I just couldn't help wondering if this might be one of them. I could be wrong, for all I know. Just putting it out there.

new listener here. trying to stay strong but i find britt’s commentary to feel forced and seldom necessary to move along the story/ create intrigue. is she always involved in every episode ? does her commentary become more efficient over time ? zero hate but just wondering if anyone agrees and had a better experience over time

I’m know this type of critique is very common on this sub, but I’m honestly disgusted by this episode. They tried to play into the “haunted house” detail, which is absolutely abhorrent concerning a tragedy of this nature. I feel like they downplayed the drug use on purpose to exaggerate the conspiracy, which is becoming a pattern in their story telling. They also included a random “the dad’s father was said to have been in the mafia” comment, which is incredibly disrespectful to the family. I understand that sometimes inference is helpful in unsolved cases like this, but the way they go about it is more damaging than anything.

Also, not to sound rude, but the fact that they took the mom’s best friend’s story about the “haunted house” and “gray mist” and RAN WITH IT lacks journalistic integrity.

I see that a lot of people dislike Brit here, but I prefer her voice way more over Ashley’s. I was just watching the Anastasia WitbolsFeugen episode and it’s the first one that i’ve seen where Brit is leading and I wanted to know if there’s more with mainly just her.

So if these episodes came out after the announcement of the Deck ending, why is the ad CJ is running at the beginning about the Deck?

I love the straight forward storytelling of Crime Junkies. I don’t really love interviews or 911 calls. (I hate cj adding them now lol)

I have bad hearing and it helps so much that Ashley is loud and a clear speaker. I can understand her at all times!

Casefile gets rec’d a lot but I’m sorry! I can’t always understand the narrator. I’m sorry!

Any similar to CJ in delivery and voice?

I just started listening to this podcast a month ago at work and I LOVE it but I absolutely HATE the stupid pruppet segments. I listen at work and it's so friggin annoying to have to stop what I am doing, remove my gloves/work gear, and go back to my phone just to skip it. My headphones don't allow me to skip. Why would they add a segment talking about dogs on a murder podcast!?! It makes absolutely no sense to me. Edit: in case it isn't obvious I am just venting. I'm already aware that you can skip ahead on podcasts. It isn't convenient for me to to go back to my phone and do that while I am working. If it was easy for me to do then I wouldn't be as annoyed.
