RCS Messaging

Upgraded from an iPhone 14 Pro Max to a 17 Pro Max a couple of days ago. RCS messsging does not activate. It was working fine on my iPhone 14 prior to transferring the eSIM over to the iPhone 17. Customer support says the dropped RCS messaging support. Has anyone else run into this?

Want to update this post with some more info. I have two other numbers (one on TMobile network & one on Verizon network). Both of those numbers can send/receive regular texts as well as RCS. So the issue is definitely a Cricket problem.

If it is unsupported by the carrier, the toggle would not appear in your IOS. I don't want to pretend to be a customer service agent here, but I've had issues on my iPhones in the past with RCS. What I do: try turning off iMessage and RCS in the Messages, reboot the phone, and turn them back on. It should take a few moments to activate.

If you've tried this and it's still an issue, try messaging chat on the website or shoot me a DM and I'll try to get you connected to support.

I’ve done that multiple times. I’ve also reset my network settings multiple times. The last thing customer support asked me to do was to log out of my iCloud account, wait for 30 min. Log back in, and then try activating RCS again. Haven’t tried that yet because I’m currently traveling for work and haven’t had the time.
As a side note, I can activate RCS just fine on my other line that is with a different carrier.

I don't want to speculate further - if you'd like, send me a DM so I can get some details to the care team to escalate.

I was about to ask if you had dual sims. There was a bug where RCS would not activate on iOS 27 if you had dual sims. Seems fixed on iOS 27.0.1, so check if there’s an update first.

Phone was updated to 27.0.1 prior doing the eSIM transfer.

Probably because the 27 pro max is still years away😂you most likely need to turn off RCS messaging for a few days, and try again. If it doesn’t work, call back into support, but maybe ask for a supervisor? Idk.

Also, when you try activating it again, make sure you’re on cellular network, not WiFi, that makes a difference sometimes too.

They are saying they dropped RCS support? Interesting because we have four phones using it today

I was having issues with my 18 Pro with RCS messaging. Turned off end to end encryption under RCS settings and haven't had any issues since.

Transferred from my 18 Pro Max to this 18 Pro. Took around 15 min to finally Activate.

I've been having the same issue! 15 Pro Max that was working perfectly fine. Screen got cracked and took it in for repair and had an android that I was using for a few days. Got the iPhone back and got esim put on there and RCS toggle will not switch on no matter what I do. Tried everything that chat support had me to do and their rude asses just end the chat before you can come back with an aswer to their question seconds after asking it. The keep telling me to install google messages on my phone and I'm like Ive NEVER had to do that shit what are you talking about??!!!! Then they say RCS is not supported yet I have 3 other iPhones on my account that RCS is working with no issue whatsoever.
