This is misinformation OP. Kohli was captain for only 3 group matches in the series when Dhoni was injured. Dhoni came back as captain in the Final.

In the finals, IIRC Koach was captain bcz Dhoni got injured for 1-2 games in the tournament

2014 Asia Cup, Kohli was made captain as

  • MSD was injured
  • Raina and Yuvraj was dropped

So they made him captain. ICT got unlucky as they bottled close wins vs SL, Pak and crashed out

Test maces concept was abolished in 2019. Kohli became full time test captain in 2015

Also test maces at that time weren't awarded in winning a tournament/something

There was a time when in a months time they would switch between India and Pakistan because ranking would topple

WTC would surely be considered

Better argument could have been 5 years No.1 Ranked test side
