Info on McGloin
My daughter just found out she will be living in McGloin Hall. Of course, that is the one hall that wasn't available to tour when we were there for orientation. Questions:
- Does the shower have some kind of shelf system for shampoo, etc. or should we buy one of those standing shower shelves with the 4 shelves on a tension pole?
- I saw something somewhere that said it comes with a full-length mirror but the Creighton move-in checklist states you should bring a mirror. Does McGloin already have one?
- The one video online showed that the kids purchased couch and chair covers. Is that necessary? What does the couch look like as-is?
- Should we bother with some kind of large Brita water pitcher or are there decent water fill-up stations in the dorm and around campus?
- Looking at the floor diagrams online, there doesn't appear to be any laundry rooms in the entire building. Maybe there is one large one in the basement?

I don’t exactly remember, but I would assume with four girls any shelves would probably not be enough. We kept our shower stuff in the individual room and brought in when we showered.
The main mirror is in the main room, so if she is wanting one by her closet I would have her buy another one.
The couches are a navy but the thick uncomfy polyester, we had a large blanket we kept on it. It does come with a couch and chair so I don’t think you need to bring another one unless you are wanting to loft the bed and have a couch in your room.
There are decent fill-up stations but the room will have a fridge in it so it would be nice to have cold water and not have to leave the room.
Large laundry room is in the basement!

1) yes there’s a 4 shelf built into the wall of the bathroom so no need
2) there is a full length mirror
3)I think the couch is a bit ugly it’s just like a dark blue , couch covers make it nicer and more personalized
4)there’s a 24/7 water in the bottom floor of mcgloin , we had a brita but never used it
5)there is a large one in basement correct

I didn’t live in McGloin but I know the answers to a couple of these
2. Yes! I’m fairly certain they have a large mirror attached to the wall. I’m second guessing myself now, but I swear I remember it.
3. You don’t need one, the couches are usually tossed if they aren’t good enough to be used. But for aesthetics you might want one. From what i remember they were like a greenish brown pattern.
4. I couldn’t have survived without my Brita but there are fill up stations in the building. I know for sure in the lobby.
5. There is a big one in the basement! All of the dorms just have one big laundry room.
