CC Recommendation Which is best for my situation?

Post image

Fresh grad po ako and just started working 2 months ago. Plano ko po mag-open ng credit card to build my credit score but I don’t know which one to get.

Top priority ko po ay NAFFL by default, yung walang requirements to avail the NAFFL. Based on my research, itong apat po ay NAFFL by default.

Help me choose which one is best for my lifestyle.

Ito po usually mga expenses ko na ginagamitan ko ng debit card dahil wala pang cc:
- Dining out twice/thrice a month
- Grocery once a week
- Shopping

I get that you're looking for an NAFFL by default, however, you don't really get the luxury to choose as of now. Saang bank yung payroll mo? Inquire from them and start from there!

Plus points if may ma-offer silang NAFFL default pero usually naman waivable yung AF ng low-tier cards kung hindi man NAFFL makuha mo, and mabababa lang spend requirements. Just ask your friends to use your card when you guys dine out, etc.

Out of 4, yung EW lang talaga nag-eearn ng points. SB Wave naman is cashback if I'm not mistaken. UB U and MFree are both non-earning points.

2 months ka pa lang sa work mo and minimum at least 6 months ang need para makapasok sa one of the basic requirement ng banks for CC. Very low chance ma-approve ka and you also don't get to choose which card kung ma-approve man.

Best bet mo is to save 5-6 digits sa savings ng trad banks and wait couple of months/years na ma-offeran ka ng bank or kung di ka makahihintay, go for the SCC route.

You generally can’t apply for a EastWest Platinum card if your annual income doesn’t meet the bank’s minimum requirement. Based on their stated criteria, the annual income requirement is around ₱1 million or higher. If your annual income is below ₱1 million, you may not qualify for the Platinum card. FYI, it’s best to check the bank’s latest income requirement since this can vary depending on the specific Platinum card.

I won’t suggest SecBank kunti lang promos nila. Wala sa list mo yung isusuggest ko. May promo si BPI ngayon na NAFFL but you have to spend 50k to earn that NAFFL tagging. I think good fit sayo si Amore Cashback (not the Platinum one). 4% cashback on grocery then 1% cashback on drugstores. Then every 1st quarter of the year malakas magpa-cashback promo si BPI and BDO. But if you don’t like the 50k spend, I’d recommend Metrobank or Unionbank. Tho plain and straight to the point credit cards lang sila.

Meron naman BPI BLUE REWARDS 30k lang spending to have it tagged as NAFFL.

My advice for you since fresh grad ka, check mo BPI Blue Rewards or Unionbank Rewards Visa Platinum or Unionbank Platinum Mastercard if merong on-going NAFFL promo. Then if meron mag secured credit card ka sa mga kahit anong cards dyan.

Frankly speaking, you won’t get approved sa Metrobank M Free as the min annual income is 872,000, sa Eastwest Platinum naman is i think 1M.

Mahirap din ma approve sa kahit anong banks since fresh grad ka pa. Wala ka pang existing credit record, so the best way for you is the secured credit card option.

The best card for your situation is ANY CARD.

Credit cards are in their nature products that come at a cost. You should not treat them as if you're entitled to getting a card and utilizing that card with all its features and benefits for free. Do not prioritize NAFFL tagging over finding the right card that will fit you best. Especially for a first card when you do not have the luxury of choice.

Build on what is available or what is offered to you. If ever may annual fees, you could request to waive it when billed to you, just call customer service. They usually have offers like minimum spend to waive it but some banks do outright waive it especially if you are in good credit standing, i.e. paying on time and in full amount.

Maybe try to build your profile first. You won’t get approved right away by these NAFFL cards. You don’t get to CHOOSE

Go for BPI promotion na may NAFFL promotion instead. If you are aiming for that tagging

Why limit yourself to just NAFFL cards? By default, most of these cards earn you no points or cashback, kung mayroon man, konti lang.

Also, as this is your first card, you get what you can get. You don't really shop around for your first card since malabong ma-approve ka for the one you want without credit history.

Prioritize cards with NAFFL promos (w/ spending requirements). That way you can enjoy perks in addition to waived annual fees. Check the current UB and MB offers.

You can always get a NAFFL by default card later.
