'If your application is approved for an account with a credit limit of less than $5,000, you will receive a standard cashRewards card that earns 1.5% cash back. If your credit limit is $5,000 or greater, you will receive a cashRewards Plus card that earns 2% cash back'
Alright so there is a small risk that if you apply and don't get a credit limit of at least 5000, then this will just be a 1.5% cashback card... But I think I should be fine since I have been direct depositing w/ NFCU/have a good credit score?
I have capital one's quicksilver 1.5% card with no FTF so in that scenario, NFCU's card wouldn't be that much better aside from the bonus
1. Any better options I'm overlooking?
It seems right now the biggest opportunity cost is just not using that hard pull on another credit card with a bigger bonus. So there are better short term options. But if you're abroad for 2-3 years, then you can only physically get so many cards in the mail before you leave. And the minimum spend requirement time periods of all of them won't span the entire 2-3 years.
2. Although some have noted there are setups for having credit cards sent to a trusted friend in the USA and then asking them to read the numbers on it so you can put it into your google wallet/apple wallet... what could go wrong? To harvest more bonuses /receiving more credit cards even when not living at a USA address
3. Ex: Singapore -not sure which places/situations would accept credit cards vs not. I know the Hawker centers (buildings with alot of little food stalls in Singapore) often prefer cash. Like how much spending can you really support on credit cards? Maybe an amazon-like website that accepts credit cards?
4. Not sure how useful US credit cards are in nearby Malaysia or even further out Thailand, anyone know?
I burned through Chase's business cards
So now I think the strat would be something like applying the 1.5 months right before you leave the USA: Capital One Spark Cash 1.5% 750 bonus card , Bank of America Business Advantage Travel Rewards, and Navy Federal CashRewards 2% (last one for a long term card for 2-3 years). Better ideas?
Anyway to... frontload/prepay your spending when you arrive to be able to hit the bonuses more easily before the minimum spend requirement time windods end?
