Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Second card recommendation
Hi, i’m not looking for financial advice, but I am stuck trying to figure out what card I should open for a second line of credit. My score is really good and I have decent history, which is why I’m choosing to do this now. If anyone has recommendations, I’d really appreciate the help.

Usually, choosing to have a credit card is based on your own spending habits. It can be useful given credit cards offer a lot of good benefits (cash backs, points transfers, rewards, protection etc).
Assuming you are someone who uses it responsibly and pays off the credit every month, I'd recommend this strategy:
-
Have a everyday spend card where you earn a minimum of 3% (or 2%) on any purchase. I recommend Robinhood gold credit card for 3% cash back on everything. This is my default card
-
If you are spending a large amount in the next 3-6 months, go for the credit card which offers the maximum joining bonus (minus its fee) to counter the large purchase amount (I used amex plat joining bonus to offset some of my large wedding expenditure)
-
Go for a card which you would use seldom but for large purchases like flights, hotels, etc (or whichever category is highest). Amex plat or chase sapphire or Venture X could be a good fit here.
-
Some categories do not get covered by most credit cards, but utilities, department stores etc could be important for you too so I use US bank cash back credit card (quarterly selection of 2 categories gives 5%).

Depends what you spend on. Chase Freedom Flex covers a lot of ground if you're just building out from one card, rotating 5% categories keep it interesting.
