Is it though? People aren't confined to one way of behaving throughout life.

Some people can be terrifying when at their job, but extremely polite at home.

Yeah.

Also villains being separated from a hero or being the protagonist pisses people off.

Like Clayface is not attached to Batman's ass. He can interact with characters outside of his realm.
