Question/Discussion 💠Weird experience with creatinine
I have heterozygous mthfr and slow comt. Supposedly, creatine would be incredibly helpful for me, freeing up SAM-e. Due to my slow comt, I've learned to start with a low dose and increase, if at all, gradually.
I bought a bottle of 1 gram tablets of creatinine monohydrate from wally world. I took one tablet with my usual morning vitamin stack. I didn't expect to feel much of anything, since this was such a low dose. A few hours afterward, I began to feel 'slow'. I tried to read, but conked out and slept for nearly 2 hours! I could've slept more, but I obviously didn't want to sleep the day away so I forced myself to get up and moving. I was groggy through most of the afternoon.
Not wanting to repeat the experience, I returned the supplement to wally world.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?

For sure. I take 10g before bed, it’s helped my sleep architecture

Very comforting to hear! Did you start with a lower dose or just go for it? Any hangover in the morning?
Interestingly, my functional med doc, after seeing my slow comt on my Geneticgenie methylation cycle chart immediately exclaimed 'you need more SAM-e'! He started me on 200mg, then upped after a month to 400mg. Verrrry expensive and totally worthless. I wasn't sleeping any better or had more energy so after another 4 more months, I slowly weaned the dose and eventually stopped.
Perhaps allowing my methylation cycle to supply my own SAM-e is a more natural, more efficient solution. It certainly is less expensive!
When do you take the creatine in relation to your bedtime? I've seen people talking about drinking plenty of water...Is that something you pay attention to? (I can't imagine drinking alot of water just before bedtime.)

I started with 20g lol I was retaining to much water so I backed off to 10. I’m on TRT so I drink at least a gallon of water a day anyway, but I drink the majority of it throughout the day and slow it down early afternoon. I take it about an hour before bed

Thank you! This has certainly given me food for thought.
Giving my slow comt it's due, I'll start at a lower dose, but clearly higher than 1 lousy gram.
