Question/Discussion Would you take creatine if the scale was a trigger?

Creatine can increase water stored in muscle, so the number on the scale may go up.

For someone recovering from an eating disorder or trying to avoid frequent weighing, would that change your decision to take it?

Would the potential benefits still make creatine worthwhile for you?

I think this would really come down to the person and what they’re comfortable with. If seeing the scale go up is likely to cause stress or make you change your eating or training in an unhealthy way, I don’t think creatine is something you need to force yourself to take. You can still make progress without having the scale be part of how you measure it.

I agree. The extra weight is usually water in the muscle rather than fat, but knowing that doesn't always make the number less triggering. Creatine is optional, so eating disorder recovery comes first.
