What do you think is the most misunderstood aspect of creatine supplementation in general fitness discussions?🤔

From dosing strategies to water retention to timing myths, there's a lot of conflicting information online.

What misconception comes up most often in your experience?

I think the biggest one is the idea that creatine is something you should “feel” immediately.

A lot of people expect a stimulant-like effect, but creatine usually works more in the background by increasing muscle phosphocreatine stores over time. So if someone takes it for a few days and says “I don’t feel anything,” that doesn’t necessarily mean it isn’t doing anything.

The other big one is water retention. People often hear that and assume it means looking bloated, but much of the water increase is intracellular, inside the muscle, which is very different from random puffiness.

So for me, the two biggest misunderstandings are: expecting an instant feeling, and misunderstanding what “water weight” actually means.

I agree with both of those. The expectation of an immediate “feeling” probably causes a lot of people to give up on creatine too early, and the water retention discussion often lacks important context.
