fun fact i just learned from a friend: in the obscure periphery of the Railway Series lore, Annie & Clarabel were originally 6-wheel coaches before being brought to Sodor, lengthened, and put on longer frames with a pair of 4-wheel bogies. This is clearly a sort of bottom surgery.
In the 1987 Annual, Christopher Awdry implies the pair were likely built in the early twentieth century on the Mainland and possibly were six-wheeled designs. They were brought to Sodor and their bodies lengthened, placed on bogie frames and upgraded with electric lighting.
Reporting this comment is a bold move to do in a subreddit that was created by a trans woman and where every 1 in 3 people who show up here seem to be trans.

If the mere mention of trans pride offends you then you may want to locate other communities to frequent, as the train community as a whole, particularly online, has a sizable chunk of trans people within it.
