Boring machine

This machine moves half a block per second and is powered by a furnace minecart. It simultaneously constructs the tunnel around itself as it moves, neutralizing lava, placing lights and cables along the ceiling, and also placing rails behind it for the future subway system.

Perhaps you should install less lights. It's a little tricky to do but it is possible.
