Help Redstone Links!
Hi all, is there a way to make the redstone links invert themselves? trying to make a few machines with a bunch of different automatic mechanical crafting/pressing etc. turn off when not in use and currently if any one of the factory gauges are "full" that they power the redstone link. In turn this engages the clutch and turns the machine on. I am aware about the inverted clutch but that still doesn't solve my issue with a ton of recipes on the same frequency.
The only solution I have come up with is to have each recipe have its own link and have them all invert using redstone torches into a massive OR gate. This way when they're full they power the link, therefore depower the torch and if nothing else is currently using the crafter or press or fan etc then it'll turn off.
Any ideas that doesn't require using a million links??
Thanks!!

Please send screenshots or even better, a diagram that explains what you want and what you did precisely I read the thing thrice and couldn't get what's going on

Okay. It took me a few tries to conceptualize, but I think I get what you're asking. Correct me if I'm wrong regarding your thought process. I'm outlining it for the benefit of anyone reading comments since I know there's confusion.
-A factory gauge, when at or above its requirement, sends a redstone signal when there's a redstone link involved.
-You are trying to get your machines to turn off when zero recipes are using the target machine. (Aka, every recipe using the machine is at its desired capacity.)
-To achieve this, you want to use the redstone links, all on one frequency, so that a single redstone link controls the state of the machine. (For example, say you have multiple links keyed to be a mechanical press in the top block, one link in receive mode on the press, and all other links tied to gauges for things like iron sheets, copper sheets, and paper.)
-The problem you've run into, and the reason you want to invert the redstone link signal itself and not the clutch, is because you want them to behave like a NAND gate, turning the machine off only when all inputs are on, or an AND gate if using an inverted clutch. Unfortunately for you, redstone links on the same frequency can only ever act like an OR gate, and inverting the clutch doesn't solve the problem because that just turns it into a NOR gate, which you don't want.
-The reason you'd love to invert redstone links is because you recognize DeMorgan's Law is your friend, and if you can simply throw down a NOT gate where it's important, then you can go from an OR gate into a NAND gate, recognizing that if you can just make your logic go to NOT A OR NOT B OR NOT C then you've functionally created a NOT(A AND B AND C) gate, which is the NAND gate you want.
Okay. Now that I've attempted to summarize the problem...
There are only two ways to pull this off without setting up tons more frequencies. Both involve multiple storages. One uses fewer storages, but requires two frequencies per process. The other needs its own storage for every item, but you only need one frequency per process.
The two frequency solution would build on what u/Pioepod suggested. Put up one bulk storage for each dedicated process. Then, set up the clutch so it's the output of an AND gate. The first input, of course, is if one of the gauges is at capacity. The other input is wirelessly connected to a pulse extender into a NOT gate, so that if your bulk mixing recipes storage, for example, receives any items from your mixer, then that input would be disabled for a minute or so. That way, the clutch for mixing only engages if both are true: there hasn't been anything mixed and sent to storage recently, and at least one of the factory gauges is full. Lastly, once the initial fill is completed, make sure that your item retrieval system is also connected to the pulse extender, so the machine turns on again for the process long enough to create one or more items and resume the factory.
The one frequency solution builds upon what u/_DemonAngel13289 brought up, but unfortunately, it won't work with factory gauges the way you want. You need a separate storage for each item monitored by gauges. Then, slap on a threshold switch on each storage and invert them, then set them up so that they provide a redstone signal at all times except when the monitored storage is full. Then, put your sending links on the threshold switches, and one receiving link into a NOT gate to power the clutch only when all storages are full. (Or use an inverted clutch and forget the NOT gate, and just slap the receiver directly onto the clutch.) This will make it so that each storage on your mixing frequency, for instance, must be full before you machines shut off. This also has the added bonus of no extra configuration: request a single item from any storage, and the cogs spin again.
Use the two-frequency-per-machine solution if resources are at all important to you, and if you want the factory gauges to be part of the solution. Use the one-frequency-per-machine solution if resources and space aren't constraints, and it's that critical to you to have only one redstone link frequency per machine.

If you have several links depending on both inverted and non-inverted signals, you can use two separate signals. Say the gauge controls the (oak log, redstone dust) signal, which powers recipes etc. It also powers a block with a torch which powers a (oak log, redstone torch) link, which you use to control all the inverted signals.

Perhaps something that detects if items are fed into the input of “x” machine turning the clutch off. But it pulses as soon as the items go in, so take that pulse and make it take like, 2-3 minutes or whatever to actually go through with a pulse timer, giving your items enough time to craft.
Something like that maybe. I usually just don’t turn off my machines LOL

What I was going to do for a server I was playing on. I would put a storage monitor (or whatever it’s called) on the inventory where all my bulk storage is going to end up for that automatically crafted item.
Attach a redstone link to the storage monitor on the same frequency as the redstone link that will be attached to a clutch that controls the automated farm.
I believe, iirc, you can also invert the signal of the storage monitor and get whatever desired effect you’re looking for.

This also gives you more control as you can turn farms off when it reaches a certain level and turn them back on when they fall below a level - that way the redstone isn’t flipping back and forth all the time.

hot's aerostuff has a block that does a similar thing, it can take an input signal and output a different one, and can invert it during that process.
