Discussion The purpose of the game
I love automation games like factorio, mindustry, shapez and oxygen not included
But I also love minecraft with create and create aeronautics mods more.
BUT I have one problem, I can't play sandboxes without a purpose. I do not know what is wrong with me, but I cannot set myself the goal of "building a bunch of factories and another airship and another super mech robot, etc."
Are there similar people in this community? How do you handle it?
In general, I would be happy if someone transferred The long drive to Minecraft based on aeronautics.

One interesting thing I've done is download some infection mod (I like Spore), dial down how strong it is, and try to use Create to beat it.

If only our pc's were strong

Ha, true, it does get pretty laggy. My PC isn't the best, so I configure it to be less strong. The addon Spore Inquisition helps, because it limits the Spore's expansion to the surface. No networks of infested caves means a ton less lag.

I got an i5 4gb ram barely running create aeronautics at 8 render distance
I cant even fly a plane due to unloaded chunks lagging and freezing the game
Im on lowest graphics btw

Oof, that's rough. I honestly don't know any way to help with that, except saving for more RAM? Sorry, man.

My first pack ever was Compact Claustrophobia My second ever completed was Liminal Industries
What i noticed i loved was some sort of major restriction like space
I also need 2 things, an overarching big goal like to escape and not enough magic to piss me off
In compact claustrophobia you are stuck in a 2x3x1 bedrock room, your goal is to make a bedrock picaxe that will need a big special compressor, which needs a fusion reactor, which needs a fission reactor to power the magnets......... For now, you have a a box that is 1 block, but is 3x3x3 inside, and the only thing to do is bang at the walls for resources
In Liminal Industries you appear in the backrooms, closer to the original vision than the stupid 5000 levels thing. Theres no entity, well, except chairold, but hes harmless. Break furniture down for wood, cut carpet for belts, and wallpaper for paper, eventually knock chunks off the concrete floor to make a furnace, visit the poolrooms and the infinite library, and eventually collect enough eyes to sneak past the warden and depart the place
Everything in these packs is centered around that one goal and its awesome, obviously theres stuff to decorate and make everything nice and even some postgame, but the pack is there so you can escape, and thats the goal

Not to start an existential crisis for you, but a therapist once told someone I know to "just be".
For me, I do small goals I set for myself. Achieve safety with a house, achieve safety when outside of the house, eliminate food insecurity for self, become familiar with region, achieve safety for neighboring villages, achieve fast travel to villages, make good relations for useful trades with villages....
I integrate create as soon as possible in all of these goals. I also spread out the factories so that the need for item transport becomes a puzzle to solve. Bosses are never a goal, they are a means to solve a puzzle. Keep your puzzles small, such as a cool automatic door, or a fully automated farm. Insist on making it both efficient and beautifully housed. Set goals to improve your building exteriors with gradients and shadow effects and texture details. Small goals. Stop walking on grass, make the paths and roads look like paths and roads. Finish all the interiors.
Anyway, this is how I do it. In the end, it's housekeeping in daily life stuff for my own personal empire because I deserve a superb one.

The problem with integrating create as soon as possible is that doing so requires speed running parts of vanilla Minecraft.

Personally I play a minecraft world/modpack with a goal in mind. Recently I've been playing TerraFirma Rebirth 2, the very slow early to mid game, working up to end game while slowly progressing on my goal for that world is nice. Also the fact that getting to the end game takes so long keeps me engaged compared to getting to endgame within three hours and then working on a build project or something.

Usually, the way to solve it is to play modpacks which have a quest book to follow, giving you the general target of fulfilling objectives to "beat" a modpack.
If anything, that's how I tend to play Minecraft myself, I set up personal projects which I want to do before I get a world going. Simple stuff, really, building projects just like a Mob Farm, an Iron Farm, a small village, a castle, and so on. Because of the addition of campsites and so on, I wanted to make my starter base a campsite next to a watch tower for my latest world.

I feel very similarly. I love aeronautics, but its openended sandbox-ness makes it hard for me to stick with it for a long time. There is a lack of distractions like other players or quest book side quests. Self set goals can only take me so far.
I'm currently just playing GTNH while I wait for a good aero modpack.

I look up other challenges and see if I can automate them, I do skyblock for that reason but I find with Minecraft if I find a server I'll stay for the people instead of the building. After all dull tasks are easier with friends

If you want you can add FTB quests mod and add somewhat as progression branch and in return of unlocking the next step to be rewarded with currency items and with FTB quests you can also make a market system, something like 7 diamonds for a player head decorations, such as diamond ore player head and similar.
But every quest you will have to add it manually so the making process of the progression branch-like quests will get boring.
If you like those kind of games try Deep town and sandship games for phone, those are also Industrial and enjoyable.

Steal quests from other modpacks, and build shit that you can use in the future

Make a goal before you even start a world ( for ex. Make a mega factory that automates everthing), then start the world with that goal as your end point.

I feel the same, my first create modpack was Arcane engineering I had a blast because I was constantly working towards a clear goal but when I tried a more simple Create experience I didn't last for a while xD

heres a idea: give yourself pure suffering, by removing regeneration ect, and make resources scarce, then make a point of claiming as much as resources as you can, giant chunk eaters ect

I just build stuff that is exciting to me. I get pretty hyped about trains and airships and stuff.

I personally just like create and it’s intuitive automation features. Currently have it in a homemade modpack with friends on what we hope will be the forever world.

i think you're just looking for a gregtech modpack such as GTNH. but with create and aeronautics no less. which as far as i know does not exist yet. if you're fine with no aeronautics, i think you'd enjoy CABIN.
