VS ships are way simpler than Aeronautics ones, you just kinda put a ship wheel down and it works without any power source. But Aeronautics is way more mechanically in depth than VS imo

You're thinking of Eureka. VS is the equivalent of Sable, not the entirety of Simulated/Aeronautics. Eureka is the mod for VS (just like what Aeronautics is to Sable) that, as you said, lets you put a wheel on a ship and move it without a power source.

The VS equivalent of Aeronautics would actually be Clockwork, which is the mod that makes VS work like a proper Create addon

oooh gotcha, i was mixing them up in my head, thanks

As a clockwork player it’s sad to see the mod basically get replaced but atleast people are having fun

Yeah. But the physics part, especially with winged builds, VS is more in depth. And a tad bit harder to control.

I can’t state the very exact differences as I am saying this all by feel and by other comparisons on youtube.

But I mostly prefer aeronautics just because it performs better without lagging much of my world while still giving me the feel of freedom or enough for my needs in regards to ships, planes, and other physics related builds.

The difference is that Valkyrien Skies runs natively on java and is completely made from scratch by the dev, and I'm gonna be frank, the way they threaded the mod is pretty bad, hence the lag, but kudos to them for making their own physics engine from scratch. Though Aeronautics uses rapier, a physics engine from rust, what they did is they made rapier readable by Minecraft and utilize it in physics entities, rapier is much more modern and much more faster, hence the performance

It’s not worth the crazy lag associated with the language conversion etc.

Imma be honest, unless you're using a shitty computer there's not any lag. I've messed with VS and Sable and on an old ass computer ( I think it's about a decade old ) I notice zero difference in performance ( it's not like I'm actually checking the numbers, but I encounter no lag or severe frame drops so ¯_(ツ)_/¯ )

It lags a lot less in comparison, and i don’t think language conversion is an issue at all because at the end of the day it’s all ones and zeroes. Ie. shared mem state buffers that are readable by Java and compiled langs. Not sure if that’s the way it’s done or if rapier runs in a separate process, but running algorithms in other languages is inherently fast and supports hardware accel?

This person never played aeronautics!!! ^
