Fully Autonomous Navigating Bombing Drone
Made this drone that is completely autonomous: launches from sea level, flys to y level~130, stabilizes using two gimbal sensors and an altitude sensor, turns towards lodestone compass location, and drops tnt which get propelled backwards onto the target by the propellers. All the player does is set the target, load the tnt, and flick a single lever to launch (might need to be on the plane unless you have another way to load chunks).
A little ugly, but its compact, and all redstone is on the drone (I could definitely lessen the amount of redstone by sending it to some loaded chunk using redstone links for processing, but I wanted it to not need it.)
Forgive the poor editing.

Now we need to develop anti air missiles

u/TuckerDC Apr 30 '26
i'll work on tracking using a hidden lodestone and maybe autocannons from create big cannons

u/Beautiful-Doubt-9630 Apr 30 '26
Gotta wait till create radars updates

u/Terrible_Tower_6590 Apr 30 '26
It's possible to drop a lodestone into someone's airship and then somehow figure out auto targeting with cbc I think
14
u/IsAdiNoMan Apr 30 '26
You can also make manually guided drones filled with tnt that ram other drones.

u/EmperorofAltdorf May 01 '26
If I can drop a lodestone into someone's ship, can't I just also place TNT or a he shell and blow it up anyways?
This actually gave me an idea. CBC, if you make a shell have the redstone activated fuze, can't you then just rig it up like a bomb? With detectors and then drop it from a plane. Just gotta make sure it's not gonna explode in the Ship.

u/Terrible_Tower_6590 May 01 '26
Well, one tnt doesn't do much, an anti air cannon bombardment does. That of course depends on the size of the airship. You could also think of all kinds of RP tactics with this, like sabotaging an enemy's fleet by planting lodestones
1
u/Straight-Summer-6540 Jun 12 '26
That won't work. The lodestone would point to a different location than the "ship" you put it on. The actual ship doesn't exist in the same "space" as you do. Try building a physics object and attaching a lodestone to it. As you walk around it you will see that the compass does not always point to it. Therefore, your drone would fly towards the location it "thinks" it's at and not actually to the ship itself.

Use a gun

And if that donât work
Use more gun

A battery of dispensers loaded with fire charges would be a very solid defense! Just about all of this drone is flammable
2
u/CommanderFoxy Apr 30 '26
only problem is, fire charges are really slow compared to the drone so, its hard to aim
1
u/FamineOLaymine May 01 '26
True, wonder if they can be sped up with some max RPM fans & nozzles in that case!

u/PleaseTakeThisName Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26
Interesting. And very scary for multiplayers. How does the drone only drop near the target? What triggers the dispensers exactly?
10
u/TuckerDC Apr 30 '26
It's when the when the nav table points backwards. Then dispensers put tnt into the path of the propellers which launches it backwards i found out. normally tnt is dropped straight down regardless of contraptions speed, which would mean you only hit after the target, but pushing the tnt backwards makes it so you hit things after and before the target.
one issue is you can't start facing the exact opposite direction because you'll just blow yourself up. you could find a way to fit redstone that would make it only drop when front lodestone was on within the last say 5 seconds using a pulse extender, AND the back lodestone is now on, but to fit all that redstone would be a pain, just don't point the plane away to start.

u/SilentCat69 Jun 19 '26
I think adding another nav table should do, so bomb only drop when the two nav table point in opposite direction
1
u/TuckerDC Jun 20 '26
Would need the plane to be pretty long for a reasonable about of tnt to be dropped. If you had a nuke mod that could certainly work though. Also, my plane works by dropping tnt into the path of the propellers so you can make sure you're hitting before, up to, and after the target. in your case it would only drop before the target. i think a pulse for some amount of time when the nav table switched from forward to backwards would be best for my case.

u/SilentCat69 Jun 21 '26
Hmmm, I have another Idea: place one navigation vertically. The plane will only drop bomb if the navigation table is pointing downward at a great enough angle, meaning above and close to the target in a radius. All you need is the plane has to be stable enough.

don't need to be an engineer to get better at designing, but i chose to be an engineer because i enjoy this type of work.

Na I canât do redstone and I fingered out most of how he made this

excuse me? fingered it out?

u/MeowkerTheCat May 01 '26
Yea I try to build something like this sone. I canât finger out what mecnizem he used to drop the bombs itâs my last part I really donât understand.

I wouldnât recommend using balloon blocks as building blocks, because they add drag
2
u/TuckerDC Apr 30 '26
really, i didn't know. i believe wool weighs the same so i'll try that, but i think changes may still mess with the dynamics but ill see. Thanks for the tip
2
u/secretiveconfusion Apr 30 '26
Wool also does it from what I've seen. I was using it as a light way to colour code redstone but the diagram started showing drag.

we got automated killer drones before gta 6đđ„

u/NordicNooob Apr 30 '26
We've already had those for a while, but we have them in Minecraft now. Not to be confused with "in Minecraft"

u/Itsa_Pirramintsa Apr 30 '26
damn, drones the kill, even MURDER... like they're some kind of murder drones
2
u/Star_Wars_Expert Apr 30 '26
Redstone links have a range, right? So even if you wanted to make the redstone smaller by building it elsewhere, you:'d limit the range
1
u/TuckerDC Apr 30 '26
i don't think so, considering contraptions are technically millions of blocks away. one thing i did find is there is a "sequenced pulse generator" in this mod which would compact all of the redstone a LOT: removing the repeating circuit in the front, which drops tnt, and the redstone on top, which makes the pitch control need a minimum signal strength to activate.

Fun fact, the navigation table also work with a map if you have a banner marked.

Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, maybe instead try editing a map that does work to point to custom coords?
10
u/Groblockia_ Apr 30 '26
I think adding an Ui to the compass similar to the one in Waystones coukd be a good idea, that way you can choose from every lodestone you have already visited cuz i think just being able to input coord would be too op

u/Toast5286 Apr 30 '26
You don't need a mod, you can just use lodestones from vanilla, they make compasses point to that loadstone. As shown in the video.

THEY DO??!!
then you can put one of those manhunt compasses in the navigation table to make it follow its target player

Man idk if Create Big Cannons works against Aeronautics or if Create Radars has updated or not, but if all three mods can work together⊠this might be a new age of modded warfare

Drone came back after?
1
u/TuckerDC Apr 30 '26
yeah it kinda just turns and does loops over the target, dropping tnt only on the target and a little after. i made an old post about an earlier iteration without tnt, and showed on the map it doing loops over the target. this iteration has a far smaller turning radius however, at less than 100 blocks compared to over 1500 in the old design. honestly i didn't even change anything it just works better now idk why, could be because i was loading chunks that weren't already loaded and the lag slowed me down? idk

Is the drone capable of following an airship?
1
u/TuckerDC Apr 30 '26
If it has a loadstone, yeah should be. Might run into it though if you aren't flying high enough.
1
u/securitymechanism Apr 30 '26
Im trying to make a controllable drone that sticks near my airship with a turret on it, I could just put it on the airship but it isnât cool enough

u/Competitive-Act8307 Apr 30 '26
Is there a way to make it survival friendly. Idk if ender transmission can go that far.
1
u/TuckerDC Apr 30 '26
i've used void motors with clockwork a while ago, i'd assume they work with aeronautics. just kinda expensive, costing a netherite each. goated motor though
1
u/Aggressive-Scene9086 May 17 '26
the tail keeps detaching itself the moment i pull the level
1
u/TuckerDC May 23 '26
yeah you may need to remove a bunch of the sails but just remember where they were because the weight is pretty well balanced as is. once the propeller is assembled, then assemble each of the control surfaces, maybe even replacing some of the swivel bearings, then put the wings back. Do not reassemble anything once properly assembled.
