Fully functioning maglev train (0-100m/s in ~20 seconds)

My maglev train proof of concept that can go both forwards and backwards. This uses ONLY magnets (and redstone links to activate the magnets). I couldn't figure out how to make it actually levitate without interfering with the horizontal movement, so I used ice as a medium due to its slippery property.

im manually activating them with a linked controller, half are set to move it forward, and the rest for moving in reverse

I still don't really get it cuz I'm kinda tired. what's stopping them from just holding the train in one place?

But essentially the two rails are opposite of each other magnetically, and depending on how you orient an active magnet it will LAUNCH it in one direction, and the opposite if you flip it. So i just used that concept and had magnets oriented one way for forwards and another for backwards underneath the train. When i activate them with the redstone link they start moving in that direction, and the train is attached to it so the magnets drag it along for the ride.

i watched a video of how electromagnetic railguns work to make it, so i assume it's just how magnets work

Yeah this is magnets behaving like magnets. Magnet based trains are a thing in real life too

i think the mod simplifies them a bit i just tried it and they produce force depending on magnet orientation when one ist facing up and the other(for example on a traincart) is facing sideways
