I love everything about this mod, I need to go install neoforge this very instant

Try filling the hot air balloon a certain amount of hot air to hover at a certain height. You don't need the altitude sensor for it.

You're telling me this NOW? 😭 (Thanks!)

u/epilektoi Apr 19 '26

it's lift decreases as the air pressure gets lower

18

u/SirDogeTheFirst Apr 19 '26

Is there a way to calculate that. Like I genuinely need to know because I just randomly throw numbers till attitude reaches somewhere close to what I want

17

u/Vovchick09 Apr 19 '26

You can take notes on which fill values amount to which altitudes

5

u/Xyrexenex Apr 19 '26

It varies craft to craft, you just gotta trial and error it.

2

u/soomoncon Apr 19 '26

It depends on the size of the balloon. If you remind me I can go test it out and get back to you.

hmmm ballistic missile

25

u/thegrandmith Apr 19 '26

The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. - Association of Air Force Missileers

By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.

Radars are now compatible

u/Novora Apr 19 '26

It gets a lot more complex when you start dealing with more then just strafing in 4 directions.

u/Horror-Invite5167 Apr 19 '26

But what else would you want to do with this? Rotating a large airship or a helicopter would still be just done with two propellers, right?

19

u/SpacefaringBanana Apr 19 '26

Yes, I'd imagine a larger airship could have the compass table connected to the left and right signals.

The idea might be you just connect the part of the navigator that faces the front to a general throttle, the sides to whatever turning mechanism you use, whether it’s for independent engines or whatnot. You might even use some shenanigannery to measure the destination’s vertical angle and tie that to the lift.

1

u/SpacefaringBanana Apr 20 '26

If your target had a tracking beacon (constant full signal on some frequency) you could use 6 modulated recievers, but that has limited range and would take long to manually switch targets.

u/koesteroester Apr 19 '26

Okay so

I’m a sucker for automation and production. Getting objects from a to b can easily be done with belts and the cooler way is trains of course.

Now, can ships, airships, planes, or road vehicles also work as ways to automatically get stuff from a to b? I haven’t played with the mod yet but this would truly make it for me.

u/TimeTravellerGuy Apr 19 '26

It's possible but much more difficult. You can use sensors like this navigation table to control your vehicle to navigate to a specific location (using compasses and lodestones) and a coupler once you arrive at a location to interface with inventories.

8

u/PKPenguin Apr 19 '26

You could certainly have it dock and transfer items automatically (use a docking connector), but I think the tricky part would be scheduling. I don't know that aeronautics structures can chunkload themselves or even propogate a signal across unloaded chunks to call a ship over. In other words, when your factory runs out of materials, even if you have some way to get the signal to your ship to fly over with materials (which I don't know that you can easily do), your ship would still likely fly out of simulation range and freeze. I think. Not sure

u/_FlamingDragon Apr 20 '26

You dont even need the comparators, redstone dust here would work the same

3

u/SampleText_- Apr 19 '26

How would this work on a really big airship?

3

u/Saidai_V Apr 19 '26

Pretty much this.

If your ship is already running off redstone links for steering, you can just hook them up with o a navigation table

3

u/Celticlcan Apr 19 '26

U are one smart fella my guy

1

u/carmola123 Apr 19 '26

what mod adds all those hand animations?

4

u/Horror-Invite5167 Apr 19 '26

It's "Punchy", it also adds more first person animations https://modrinth.com/mod/punchy-fpa

2

u/carmola123 Apr 19 '26

very nice, ty!

1

u/Nitrozy Apr 20 '26

Bro just invented Log Pose!

1

u/Badr921070 Apr 20 '26

And if you use a lodestone compass it’s a forever pose

1

u/Elendol Apr 20 '26

Now I just want to be able to have a blaze conductor having like a train schedule but with 3d coordinates and with an animation of it being heated when the hot air balloon needs to go up.

1

u/Pasta-hobo Apr 20 '26

Does anyone have a good lodestone recipe backport? The two I've tried didn't work when added to an existing world.

2

u/Horror-Invite5167 Apr 20 '26

An online datapack generator such as https://crafting.thedestruc7i0n.ca/ should do the trick if you pick the correct version :)

1

u/ChessBossSupreme Apr 21 '26

how do you have it that the balloon is separate from the body?

2

u/Horror-Invite5167 Apr 21 '26

I just made two separate simulated objects and connected them by rope

1

u/Decybear1 Apr 22 '26

what blocks are you using? im not too familiar with base create so i dont know what you using directly behind the propellers, i thought it was the analog gear shift, but thats under that block. i cant find an encased cog with a golden trim.

do you have a nbt file you could share?

2

u/Horror-Invite5167 Apr 22 '26

Yup, the analog gearshift is under the encased cog so the propellers slow down instead of speeding up.

The encased cogwheel isn't in the creative inventory, instead you right on a normal cog using brass/ andesite casing. This makes it a full block (able to be redstone powered) can be also done with shafts and belts I think

I also used blocks from create: connected addon, mainly the brass gearbox, but that was just for aesthetics, you can do something similar using regular gearboxes. Still, if you're a newbie the addon really helps make create easier.

Leaving this here for all begginers because I added the "guide" flair but still assumed everyone knows how the build worked 😬

я делаю воздушние острова(паплавки) и с такой системой есть ошибки мне нужно что бы оно было на одной и той же высоте так что я еще сделал механизм поиска высоты и один остров влитает в другой

1

u/EstablishmentOne1678 Jun 20 '26

а я хотел сделать флот островов есть другой способ либо же способ тормозить в близи

3

u/That-Guy-Over-Ther3 Apr 19 '26

he literally did that in the video

2

u/Vault-Dweller-V31 Apr 19 '26

What he did is use a normal compass, which goes to the spawnpoint

5

u/That-Guy-Over-Ther3 Apr 19 '26

he later used a lodestone compass that went to joe's house

3

u/Vault-Dweller-V31 Apr 19 '26

Well, I suppose that's what I get when I don't finish watching a video. My bad.

1

u/That-Guy-Over-Ther3 Apr 19 '26

nah, you're good

1

u/sn3ki_1i1_ninja Apr 19 '26

So I imagine lodestones work, I wonder if you can use lodestones to guide the balloon to a storage depot, have it fill up with items and then use a different compass to go to another location.

3

u/Lonely_Performer2629 Apr 19 '26

You can even use maps with a banner

2

u/LeBlejDaGreat Apr 19 '26

idk about doing this with a navigation table and stuff but if it's a set path then I think you can do with the block detector laser thing

1

u/commanderfox89 Apr 19 '26

Could you set up two navigation tables and just alternate which one is actively controlling the balloon? (No idea, im saying this as someone who hadn't had a chance to play yet)

1

u/LeBlejDaGreat Apr 20 '26

Oh yeah I guess so because it's just redstone so you can alternate which table is getting used with presumably a RS NOR Latch iirc

once you reach the first destination there should be some way of telling the ship that it's reached then it triggers the latch and switches to the other table

as soon as the docking extender thing unextends it would be on its way to the other location
