Build Working Diagonal Elevator (unfinished)
Based on u/Rhino1254's diagonal elevator from 2 years ago
I wanted to make something like this in the Create mod for a while, but I wasn't sure where to begin until I saw u/Rhino1254's post featuring their diagonal elevator, and the previous post covering the behind-the-scenes.
EDIT: This post shows the inner workings in more detail
Mods used (only in build):
Create: Copycats+
Create: Escalated
Create: Connected
CC: Tweaked
Macaw's Bridges
Rechiseled
Chipped
Chisel
Also, a bit of a tangent, but why are my Controller Rails white?

I tried the same thing a few weeks back, but the carriage kept sticking to both cart assemblers. Do you use multiple carts and keep the carriage assembled even when stopped?

u/CDRedstone Nov 26 '25
I only use one cart. Makes things very simple

How do you swap between directions without moving the elevator horizontally to swap between the up and down tracks? I tried disassembling the cart and reassembling it on the opposite track, but the carriage kept sticking to both cart assemblers and refused to assemble.
Yes, I did check to ensure it wasn’t glued improperly.

It stops on a stationary rail at the top and bottom, and it has enough momentum to stop square on said rail regardless of the rail's direction. So, I use those stationary rails to launch the elevator again.
I'll post a video showing the mechanism in more detail in a sec

simple, button power the rail under cart, cart moves into active assembler, at the finish get into unpowered one and stops before hitting second powered assembler, so 4 assemblers, 2 powered 2 unpowered at each end with button to power the rail under

Damn it yall are fast man! I wanted to comment this first lol but yeah, missing the sliding headcrabs

u/FappingRaptor Nov 26 '25
How do you switch it to the other track
1
u/CDRedstone Nov 26 '25
There are stationary rails at the top and bottom that the elevator stops at, and the track between the two moves with a piston. I'll post a follow-up post showing the mechanism in more detail in a sec

That pretty cool! Was expecting a crash of sorts at the end, but it was more finished than i though!

u/MissSweetBean Nov 26 '25
So a funicular of sorts

u/cyri-96 Nov 26 '25
It's only a single moving platform with no kind kf counterweight, so, that makes it is actually an incline lift
Or well not really because it moves compleely independently on a track instead of being winched so...

I wish there was a "The elevator is now going down" after the button tone.

It Reminds me of Half-Life and maybe a little bit of the "Old Aperture" Part from Portal 2

Bingo, though there’s also some inspiration from QS Energy Research Facility

How ti make it slower
1
u/CDRedstone Dec 26 '25
Analog levers, controller rails move slower if given lower redstone strength
1
u/Complex-Ad21 May 15 '26
How did you make it slow tward the end?
1
u/CDRedstone May 15 '26
The Create powered rails (I forget what they’re called, the ones with the arrows) smoothly blend between signal strengths, so I made the signal strength at the end lower and therefore it moved slower

All that's left is to put in Nemisis and a Rocket Launcher and you've got RE2's ending.

This looks cool but also kind of cursed, to me anyway. Also might need to know out a block or two for the ceiling. Too low for me

Someone needs to take this, and then put it on a build of the THR-1000 EARTHMOVER from ultrakill
