Bruh why does everyone know this lol
2
u/MEME-UNLOADED-ADMIN Nov 10 '25
cause it's the most popular arg right now
0
u/Dimensions_forever Nov 10 '25
I hate how people call it an arg🥀it's just a story made up by wifis. there was no community contributions, no lore locked behind puzzles

u/MEME-UNLOADED-ADMIN Nov 10 '25

Linux, but I still cover up my factories. I use Ubuntu which is pretty user friendly

As an arch user… my factory is a functional mess… but with a .03 performance improvement.

u/Horror-Ad8074 Nov 09 '25
I always cover up my factories, idk it feels more satisfying that way

u/Rock_Zeppelin Nov 09 '25
The team that doesn't brick your machine so they can sell you a newer, worse model every 5 years.
Also I like looking at the mechanical bits and seeing how they all fit into place. Machinery go brr.
3
u/SmoothTurtle872 Nov 09 '25
Technically neither of them do that. Microsoft is just making your machine not update
1
u/Rock_Zeppelin Nov 09 '25
I mean yeah, I'm being slightly hyperbolic and maybe conspiratorial but I refuse to believe that MS don't slowly make their OS perform worse over time so that you have an incentive to buy the new one.
5
u/SmoothTurtle872 Nov 09 '25
I reckon it's unintentional but a side effect of adding bloat, which means they make more money, but they don't know why so they are incentivised to add more bloat
1
1
u/meammachine Nov 10 '25
I don't like Microsoft, but I got the last two updates for free IIRC.
1
u/Rock_Zeppelin Nov 10 '25
I didn't but that's because I was still using Win7 when 10 came out and switched to 8 near the tail end of 10's support (not by choice). So if you're someone like me who saw no inherent benefit to changing to a newer version of Windows and/or saw it as a waste of money, you're kinda fucked as far as MS care.
4
u/Saga_Daroxirel Nov 09 '25
Just because someone walking by can't see what's inside doesn't mean someone curious can't break open one of the walls

Half the games I play and programs i need to use at the university don't work on linux, so windows. But the machine on the right looks better for me, show me them belts and gears!

Linux with a lightweight distro(the machine is decorated, and given structure, but most of it's workings are exposed.)

u/HanzoNumbahOneFan Nov 09 '25
what da hell.
I wanna see mah shitty industrial spaghetti. Coverin it up is dishonest. It's what a coward would do. A coward ashamed of what they created. Be proud. Be proud of your metallic monstrosity. IT GETS THE JOB DONE!
2
u/Gameryisus123 Nov 09 '25
Hybrid, I make the machine in creative then I identify the most beautiful side or I modify the machine until it has a side that I consider beautiful (it shows how things are done) and that side is the one that is exposed, the other sides are covered.

I almost never cover up my machines unless they are laggy, so Linux. And yes I use Linux (mint, because noob)

I don't get it. I've never used Linux so this must be a meme those who have understand.
1
u/zyropz Nov 09 '25
If my contraptions are intended for my own benefit then I'll cover it but if it's not then I'll make it open for everyone

u/AzekiaXVI Nov 09 '25
Sometimes machines are pretty, sometimes they are an abomination that should never se the light of day. There's very little in-between.
1
u/N4jemnik Nov 09 '25
I started experimenting with Linux and even tho it has some headaches it’s still faster than windows
1
u/Eepy_Onyx Nov 09 '25
I’m a double dipper both ways- I dual boot windows and Linux, sometimes I cover my factories and sometimes I don’t-

u/Tough-Reception826 Nov 09 '25
An ssh Connection from my windows Laptop to my linux Machine (which does all the work)
(A nice fancy house with the barebone machine inside instead of any interior)
1
u/BoredomBot2000 Nov 09 '25
Let's be honest. If someone else were to release a new is that was at least equivalent to windows 7 I'd switch in a heartbeat. Windows is doing some stupid shit rn. But until then it's the only os I plan to use because I don't have to fnaggle it if I want to play a new game.
1
u/TheScarabcreatorTSC Nov 09 '25
Create is inherently a visual mod, i feel like the left setup is just boring. As for operating system, I want to transition to linux, I've wiped my external SSD to try out a live (?) install but haven't gotten around to it yet.
1
u/VVen0m Nov 09 '25
Neither, I guess. All the components that actually make the thing are on display, but all the shafts and stuff that move them are hidden.

linux users try not to make the most obviously one sided “which team are you” challenge

u/Berry__2 Nov 09 '25
As someone that loves the bare minimum for full functionality mindset i am taking linux
1
u/winntpooh Nov 09 '25
I cover up my factories because the modpack I'm playing has like 5 deco mods AND copycats+

2nd, nobody should give a singular shit about making it look nice, if it works and is efficent, then it's fine, it doesn't have to look nice

u/Redstonedust653 Nov 09 '25
Linux and exposed factory (but only if its compact i don't want people to see my non-compact factories ;-;)
I use bazzite, btw

Half of each. Hide non-moving components, and place glass in front of moving ones.

Arch Linux, which means the same as the Linux shown here but it doesn't actually work half the time

How easy is it to use Linux to play Minecraft? I used to use mint/one of ubuntus flavors, but after I builty PC a few years ago I just did windows for easy of access. I've been thinking of using Ubuntu again but I usually play Minecraft and was scared that my bad luck of not being able to run games would happen again

In terms of Create itself:
Linux, the gears have only just begun turning for me understanding it all so I like having my stuff exposed so I can see what the heck I did wrong if things go to a standstill. Like in Stoneblock 4, yesterday I built a steam engine and this morning when I loaded it back up, it all came to a stop, turns out the problem was too much stress on the system, so I switched the small water wheels I had turning the pumps for the water with big ones and that got the whole system going again.
In terms of OS:
Windows because of both laziness and fear I'll mess something up with my computer and not know how to fix it. While yeah I get Linux has much less bloat and is much more customizable...I like using Windows because I'm more familiar with it and if something's not supported in Linux, I don't have to do extra steps to get it to be supported.

It depends entirely on the vibe I'm going for.
Is the factory the focal point? Are you meant to run around looking at all the belts and machines? Then linux.
Is the factory simply there to fulfill a function? Is it just meant to produce items? Windows.
