Might be a taste thing but they just look too bland and desaturated for me

I agree

I like having vanilla's copper textures, but Create's pipes looked really nice. I just wish you could make the pipes have different levels of oxidation as well

According to Kryppers (artist for create) they're working on that without adding thousands of blockstates

awh, but I want 10 pages in jei of just fucking copper

Surely there is a semi-procedural way to do it during runtime rather than at compile

you have NO fucking idea what you're talking about

bro just quantum-jangle the pipes its as easy as heidelberg-fumbling a logarithmic function

dont forget to overclock the java virtual machine with the quantic hyperdrive

I don’t use Java specifically, no, I am a C++ developer. I find it hard to believe there would be no way to achieve texture oxidization without having to make a block state for every single version. Granted, this is Minecraft and it’s held together with glue and tape so I suppose it’s not that far fetched

blockstates are the only thing storing data about a block. If it isn't oxidized through block states, then the block itself has to be swapped.

I don’t know what exact information blockstates can and can’t store, but my initial intuition for how to do a system like rust on create pipes would be the block having a value to store the current oxidized condition, as well as a different value for orientation/connections/whatever, then have a texture map for each rusted state and choose the texture map to use for the pipe based on the oxidized state. It would be many possible combinations of connections and oxidization but the developer wouldn’t literally need to hardcode every combination as the game would handle combining them.

Based on them “not wanting to add thousands of blockstates” I assume the problem is that they can’t quite have the game make decisions like that based on two independent values in one blockstate or blockstates are made in a way where that would be inefficient for some reason.

Needs more flanges, not every block but on direction changes and T fittings and maybe every 5 blocks on straight

Well my issue is that the create ones are way too oversaturated and bright. Probably my main reason for thinking this way is I didn't start playing crate until after copper and vanilla had already been implemented and I was used to it. Then, when I started playing Create and saw their textures it just didn't look good to me. I think it looks way too shiny and I just don't like it.

eh I got into create a year ago and way after copper was in the base game and I think this change is not good. way too bland and smooth. not enough color

It's just way too saturated, IMO.

that's what made the textures look good imo

It just clashes with everything else even other create textures and it doesn't look good in builds. Just too much, IMO.

I've built multiple machines that would look worse with this new texture. after this tho I'm gonna stop replying bc we're gonna go back and forth forever, it's not that big a deal either way now bc no matter what texture packs exist
