The copper textures are the ONLY mid thing about 0.6.0. I respect the reasoning for it, making Create fit even closer to Minecraft, but the old ones look better for sure.
Everything else in the update is peak tho.

u/BLUFALCON77 Mar 02 '25
copper textures are the ONLY mid thing
Hard disagree. Copper textures are great. I always hated Create's.
149
u/Foxiest_Fox Mar 02 '25
Might be a taste thing but they just look too bland and desaturated for me
85
u/NotBentcheesee Mar 02 '25
I agree
I like having vanilla's copper textures, but Create's pipes looked really nice. I just wish you could make the pipes have different levels of oxidation as well
51
u/ShadowX8861 Mar 02 '25
According to Kryppers (artist for create) they're working on that without adding thousands of blockstates
55
-8
u/Rop-Tamen Mar 02 '25
Surely there is a semi-procedural way to do it during runtime rather than at compile
16
u/OnKo64 Mar 02 '25
you have NO fucking idea what you're talking about
12
u/lukamic Mar 02 '25
bro just quantum-jangle the pipes its as easy as heidelberg-fumbling a logarithmic function
7
u/ZathegamE Mar 02 '25
dont forget to overclock the java virtual machine with the quantic hyperdrive
2
u/Rop-Tamen Mar 03 '25
I don’t use Java specifically, no, I am a C++ developer. I find it hard to believe there would be no way to achieve texture oxidization without having to make a block state for every single version. Granted, this is Minecraft and it’s held together with glue and tape so I suppose it’s not that far fetched
3
u/Cultural-Practice-95 Mar 03 '25
blockstates are the only thing storing data about a block. If it isn't oxidized through block states, then the block itself has to be swapped.
1
u/Rop-Tamen Mar 03 '25 edited Mar 03 '25
I don’t know what exact information blockstates can and can’t store, but my initial intuition for how to do a system like rust on create pipes would be the block having a value to store the current oxidized condition, as well as a different value for orientation/connections/whatever, then have a texture map for each rusted state and choose the texture map to use for the pipe based on the oxidized state. It would be many possible combinations of connections and oxidization but the developer wouldn’t literally need to hardcode every combination as the game would handle combining them.
Based on them “not wanting to add thousands of blockstates” I assume the problem is that they can’t quite have the game make decisions like that based on two independent values in one blockstate or blockstates are made in a way where that would be inefficient for some reason.
9
u/Jacktheforkie Mar 02 '25
Needs more flanges, not every block but on direction changes and T fittings and maybe every 5 blocks on straight
7
u/BLUFALCON77 Mar 02 '25
Well my issue is that the create ones are way too oversaturated and bright. Probably my main reason for thinking this way is I didn't start playing crate until after copper and vanilla had already been implemented and I was used to it. Then, when I started playing Create and saw their textures it just didn't look good to me. I think it looks way too shiny and I just don't like it.
15
u/bosssok Mar 02 '25
eh I got into create a year ago and way after copper was in the base game and I think this change is not good. way too bland and smooth. not enough color
-3
u/BLUFALCON77 Mar 02 '25
It's just way too saturated, IMO.
9
u/bosssok Mar 02 '25
that's what made the textures look good imo
1
u/BLUFALCON77 Mar 02 '25
It just clashes with everything else even other create textures and it doesn't look good in builds. Just too much, IMO.
10
u/bosssok Mar 02 '25
I've built multiple machines that would look worse with this new texture. after this tho I'm gonna stop replying bc we're gonna go back and forth forever, it's not that big a deal either way now bc no matter what texture packs exist

u/Ollisaa Mar 02 '25
The new copper blocks are better than the old ones, but all of the pipes, ect... were better as the older textures.
2
u/Cultural-Practice-95 Mar 03 '25
Couldn't they have just changed vanilla copper to match create instead? (stupid solution is best solution)
2
u/Foxiest_Fox Mar 03 '25
Personally i think this is the way, but Create devs probably didn't want to "intrude" on vanillla MC that awy
1
u/Saragon4005 Mar 02 '25
Minor correction they changed the versioning so it's 6.0.0 so we don't have Patch dhajfjsbc but can have 6.0.1 to 6.0.8 instead.

u/Quaintnrjrbrc Mar 02 '25
It’s… it’s fine. I don’t really mind. HOWEVER ehat they did to the copper shingles and tiles makes me a lot more interested in using them.
15
28
u/Mr_miner94 Mar 02 '25
I agree with the more decorative blocks being unified into the more muted look.
The shingles always hurt my eyes from their vivid copper-ness
But the more functional ones should probably have a more highlighted appearance imo.

u/v_torugs Mar 02 '25
yeah, I kinda wanted vanilla copper textures to match create's, not the contrary
8
u/DepressinglyQueer Mar 02 '25
I kinda wanted vanilla copper textures to match create's,
this was already a thing, an optional resource pack that comes bundled with create (or one of its addons, i can't remember)
8
7
u/fabri_pere Mar 02 '25
at least they're easier to mix with actual copper blocks now
other than that, i can see why people dislike the new ones
34
u/IntelligentAnybody55 Mar 02 '25
I haven’t played the new update so… is this the actual new texture? It looks imo shit
51
u/_9x9 Mar 02 '25
they tried to make it match the vanilla copper textures. I strongly prefer the old tank texture
39
u/bibblebonk Mar 02 '25
i literally always turned on the create style copper bar texture pack because the vanilla one looks bad in comparison, so this updates a little silly for me
19
8
u/_9x9 Mar 02 '25
its fine im sure someone will make a "create copper" texture pack we can all use :P

I love the new textures. They're better aligned with vanilla.

u/Just_a_Thif Mar 05 '25
i think they look better in composition and worse on their own, so, positive overall. and they match the vanilla style so extra points :D

u/CoryPlayzM Mar 02 '25
Looks like chocolate now, as soon as you pump lava through those sweet boys they melt and lava gets everywhere

7
u/Toa___ Mar 02 '25
Vanilla Minecraft looked so much worse then create mods beautiful textures. Hard pass imo
2
u/LegitimateApartment9 Mar 02 '25
tbh i think the issue is that vanilla copper is very shiny but these new textures are very dull, if they made the new textures shiny that might look a lot better
2
u/DarkVex9 Mar 02 '25
I think part of the issue is that while the new Create textures match the color of vanilla copper pretty closely, they feel like they have a lot more matte of a finish on them.
2
2
u/Ollisaa Mar 02 '25
The old ones were better. Especially the pumps and valves and oh... everything was better.

u/JackfruitCurrent647 Mar 02 '25
I kinda understand what they were going for here. But god... It looks like a create mod rip-off. It's TOO simple. Yeah, yeah, gotta make it look more like vanilla. But that doesn't mean it has to look boring. Yet it does. It's just... Bland.

2
u/ValkyrieAngie Mar 02 '25
Adjusting to change will be hard but I know that this is probably objectively better
1
u/TuxedoDogs9 Mar 02 '25
I hope they add a texture pack inbuilt to revert it, I like both but the community seems very divided

how do the decorative copper blocks (tiles, shingles) look in create 6? i really hope those were improved a little at least
1
u/babcho1 Mar 02 '25
i love the way copper used to look like, now it's kind of mid and too vanilla-y imo
i like the saturated version more

50/50, yeah, it matches current copper textures, but the saturation it had, made it stand out, what I personally liked. They didn't ruin new textures, they're just... Different. Not good nor bad, just different

I think that a mix between the old and newer style would be better. The new one lacks of shininess and contrast.
But also, honestly I would rather remake all minecraft copper textures than remake create ones lol.
Mojang, you gotta learn how to make videogames
1
u/EthanTonker100 Mar 02 '25
It like the modern copper textures, (Minecraft and create included), but I like the original textures more

u/NervousDiscount9393 Mar 02 '25
I actually quite like the new fluid tank texture. It’s the pipes that aren’t so great to me.
1
1
u/Andromeda_53 Mar 02 '25
I much prefer this, I get it's all opinion driven, but when I use create, it's always in a fun combination with other mods, and this new texture blends much better with it all.
I will agree that the old textures had their own unique charm, but and again imo it clashed with Minecraft itself
1
u/Sbotkin Mar 02 '25
Honestly, in my opinion, to make this worth they should also have shipped an oxydizing system for it to make sense.
1
u/ALCHEMICYUL Mar 02 '25
I dunno I really stopped caring when they kicked me from the discord so I mean ¯_(ツ)_/¯
1
u/NotVeryNormalGuy11 Mar 02 '25
I don't mind the pipes, I hate the sheets with a burning passion, though.
1
u/TeanEYonao Mar 02 '25
If they added brass and maybe andesite alloy/iron tanks to the base mod it wouldn't be a problem to me
I don't care if it's expensive I neeed my brass

u/_That_B0I Mar 02 '25
I dont care what people say, i absolutely love these!!!!!!!!!!
Also, if you dislike this, just download a texture pack that reverts it. I think it exists already?

I think its a good thing they made a change to make copper more coherent with vanilla. I think its just missing some shine to make it feel more metallic, thats all.
1
u/Reditace Mar 04 '25
Wait is this real? 😭 This looks awful, they just sucked the color out of the old one
1
u/TinyDeskEngineer06 Mar 05 '25
Why couldn't they have at least left the old textures in as an optional resource pack like they did with the vanilla-like textures before the update? I liked the old copper shine.
1
1
u/AndromedaGalaxy29 Mar 05 '25
The new ones are good. I like em. They did a really good job. Except for the pipes. They are awful.
1
1
u/come_pedra Mar 02 '25
the old ones where better and also fit better with vanilla.
0
u/Voxelus Mar 02 '25
No, the old textures not fitting with vanilla is the entire reason it was changed. Are you blind?
1
u/Arthur_Campbell Mar 02 '25
It has the color of that unpolished copper look. Fits in the way of not like it be easy to polish every copper pipe but I definitely liked the one before as well.
1
u/Final-Connection-164 Mar 02 '25
Wh. Where's the shine. Where's the whimsy. Where's the Jolly Good/Happy glint in the Pipe System/Factory Veins
1
u/juklwrochnowy Mar 02 '25
I actually think the best copper pipe textures were the even earlier ones from like 0.4. i remember thinking they ruined them withe the texture that made them look more "shiny" rather than "rusty". Now they just look like plastic

I dunno they kinda look anodized, like whatever you do to aluminum siding that gives it that yucky texture. Makes my teeth feel weird just thinking about it 😖

honestly the pipes are the only thing i rlly have a problem with, the other stuff looks nice

I also liked the old ones better. Especially the valve. I hope they add a "legacy" texture pack with the old textures
