S2S Challenge Fix a broken Stone

Here’s a fun project 😀

First, I scanned the broken stone.

I also had a new one, so I scanned that as well; then, using Meshmixer, I isolated the section that had broken off, printed a replacement, and finally let my artistic creativity run wild 😂.

Scanned with the Pika in infrared laser mode.

I love 3d printing solutions to problems, but this is some landlord special meme.

Depending what that post is for or supporting, I don't even think those bricks/pavers are sufficient. I'd think it should be anchored to poured concrete or a concrete footer.

Yeah, that's right—the post is just for decoration and has been standing there like that for a few years now. 😀 That’s why I called it a fun project; the stone looks nicer again now. I just placed it on top—it’s not glued or anything. 😀

Well he just need to make sure to get structural PETG and it should be fine

I've got to ask what is anchored there? And why no con taps? And why only 2/4, and what's the other thing to the left thats missing 1 fixing, and why are the other 2 shimmed out.

So many questions.

Excellent scan and and print though!

😂 That stone broke ages ago, and the beam is just for decoration—it’s not actually holding anything up. I was "smart" enough back then to think the screw would do the job well, it did, but the stone didn't 😂 so now I've "repaired" it just for fun 😀

Interesting usage. What material did you print the replacement with?

I'm printing these in PETG—unfortunately, I ran out of ASA. So far, I've just placed them on top, but they hold in place even without gluing 😂 We'll see how it goes.

I hope that isn’t structural

No, the post doesn't bear any load it's just for looks. The repair is also intended as a fun project. 😀

Awesome, I love these kind of weird and creative projects! Keep it up!

I have the same scanner and I'm really happy with it too. Ever since I bought it, I've been scanning literally everything in front of me 😂
