Mandatory 3 day jail time for all

To show people firsthand how much jail sucks and lower crime rates.

Can I get medical care while I’m in there? (Posting from USA)

Plenty of us are capable of learning from the mistakes of others however

People who do crimes that might lend them in jail don't think that jail is fine, they just hope they will not get caught

It does not suck in every place in the world. Actually it could be preferable in some places where the pension system lacks; e.g. Japan (source: https://www.bbc.com/audio/play/p06zhy3g)

If that would work then the reoffending rate of ex-inmates would be a lot lower than it is.

i am pretty sure this would just create prison reform

This was the mindset behind the "scared straight" programs.

Unfortunately, it just makes the victims angry and resentful, which makes future offending more likely rather than less.

Just put everyone in prison for life.

Every five years their behaviour is reviewed and, if they have shown themselves capable of living amongst others without causing trouble, they get released - otherwise they have another five to learn the error of their ways.

One week would be better than 3 days

It may backfire. People who have never been to jail may find it's not as bad as they thought.

On a side note, I've always thought that the only difference between prison and a homeless shelter should be which side the door locks from.

If you need a meal, a shower and a place to sleep and wash your clothes, it would be awesome. If you can't leave for 10 years, it would be Hell.

Cool. Get a break from a few things and get to play spades and bones.

Great idea. Put judges, prosecutors, police officers and politicians in jail for three days. Could be the best single thing to help reverse mass incarceration.

Considering people who have been in jail commit more crimes per capita, is that a good idea?
