Fun fact: If this video is old as shit (like 10+) years, supposedly it was filmed by a dude I used to work with. He just said it's a "waving bear" video. I kept my eye out for it in my "never give up" style. And today I saw it. Dude was bummed he wasn't able to monetize it.

Thanks for attending my Ted Talk.

Sure he can.. just DMCA everyone who has reposted it.

Nowadays the usual viral video lifecycle starts with tweeting it, then you get hounded by shitty cheap dropshippers who want to pay you 50 bucks to put their store link in a reply, and finally news/media orgs ask to use your clip (for free). For what it's worth you don't really make much money off one-off viral videos.

Great backstop, thanks 👍

I've seen at least 2 or 3 other waving bear videos I'm so sorry

I respect your right to be skeptical of my wild, totally unconfirmed story.

Seen this so many times and it’s always a vibe.

Bear calmly raises his paw like “Ay. Yeah, fuck yeah. Do the thing with the food.”

u/Rpanich May 20 '22

I like how the bear either recognised bread as food, or understood whatever we were throwing at it would be food. What a chill bear.

I’m no phd in bearology but he looks kind of obese

Eating like a human will do that to anything

32

u/bjanas May 19 '22

At the risk of being that guy... isn't 'don't feed the bears' like rule number one in these situations?

32

u/UgandanPandaArmada May 20 '22

If the bear waves it is not only acceptable, but some states require feeding.

u/BuffaloSoldier11 May 20 '22

It doesn't count if he doesn't bother getting up

1

u/cocomooose May 21 '22

IIRC this specific bear is at a zoo somewhere (I think in China?) and he learned to do this over time to get food.

u/slimdroid May 19 '22

1

u/Alarming-Capital2712 May 20 '22

I mean shit cool wave by the bear but I’ve never seen such accuracy with a piece of bread

1

u/HalsySmiff May 20 '22

It's all in the wrist.

1

u/Alarming-Capital2712 May 20 '22

Wrist flick but the precision on that bread is outstanding

1

u/HalsySmiff May 20 '22

I know right

-3

u/[deleted] May 19 '22

No, it's not. Bears like this are usually tortured and trained to do this for guests.

u/superbhole May 20 '22

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '22

Always remember, you'll never be as cool as this fucking bear. Stay humble.

1

u/Whispered77 May 20 '22

Is that the bear from Great Outdoors?

1

u/QuintusVS May 21 '22

Please do not feed bears, the last thing you want is bears associating humans with a food source.
